Good morning!!!!

We got 1.5", not enough to be bothered plowing. I wish we would get dumped on, a foot would be nice.

The house furnace oil tank was down to 1/4 full, so I pumped about 100 gallons into it from the big tank. That brought it up to just under 3/4 full. The whistle never did squawk. I am going to guess that the flow rate from the nozzle wasn't strong enough for the whistle. The gauge works just as good.
The nozzle has an auto shutoff feature, but I am not going to use it. I don't trust it to not make a mess.

I, too keep some cash in the vehicle. I NEVER carry cash in my wallet. Cash is always in my pants pocket. There is a roll of Toonies in the center consul as well as 3 or 4 in the arm rest.

Good (Sunday) morning. overnight Low of 19.3C and it's presently 19.6C, overcast with the odd breeze. There was 8.0mm in the gauge @ 0700 with more rain expected.

I'm off to Church in a while and then the rest of the day is His. Another 'hang out' with my visiting Mate... he heads back to Brisbane on Tuesday.

That's about it, take care all.

Lou, good pic of an EV next to a tractor pto generator!
that would be a good way to exercise the IH
I hadn't thought of that but yes it would be a decent small load for the generator, as I understand it would be about a 32 amp load on the 240 volt output.
I may try that the next time I run her to warm up and charge up.

Just ran out and got the mail, wind is cold again. Hit mid 30s but now mid 20s and dropping as the sun is about to set.
spent afternoon reviewing lawyer papers for a pipeline at the farm. Money not worth it for the hassle is my opinion, will see what my sister says. other siblings haven't chimed in as interested to help.
Another sister sent pics last night where a plumber working in their house yesterday knocked their furnace exhaust pipe loose where it enters the chimney. Interesting piece is they have a wood stove also in the basement that joins with the oil furnace exhaust and it shared the chimney. Never saw that. Anyway, told her to put RTV cement and seal the pipe up. She used duct tape. I said, don't get that hot...... I know she was only trying to get thru the night, but......
The furnace has a draft balancer inline, that apparently opens and shuts to admit air to keep the draw going. I know nothing about those, except what I read last night.
They knocked the stove pipe right out of the back of the stove.
She didn't notice until after plumbers left. I would have called them back to fix it. What they charged her to replace a simple 2" drain from their kitchen sink, wow.
they dont use the wood stove often. Has anyone seen an oil burner and a woodstove pipe together and share a chimney? Don't look right to me.

It used to be done frequently, supposedly it's against "code" now days. It can create draft issues with either unit if the one not in use has a open draft it will kill the draft to the working unit. It is also possible to get fumes into the house from the not in service unit.

Edited; most draft regulators are installed in a tee when the draft gets high it opens to draw inside air up the chimney reducing the draft on the appliance to the set point.

post a pic of that in the generator thread please
am thinking charging a car battery probably is not overly sensitive to THD, so that Winco (I assume)
doesn't have to have low distortion. I think "good" is considered less than 5%.
of course that much THD in a stereo amplifier would likely sound pretty bad...but apples and oranges.
Popgadget has a similar pto gen.
I just love belt and suspenders. My memory is this is your backup.
not a prepper but some times you just really want the show to go on...
and i sure don't like to be cold.

if the big EMP goes off, having an older diesel tractor with zero electronics running a pto gen
seems like an exceptionally good idea
though that gen I'm sure has several circuit boards in it.
pretty hard to have electricity without some form of electronics regulating it.

RNG, how are you doing? Hope your friend did ok today.

delighted to hear from my sister that she has given up her high rise condo in San Francisco and replaced it with a condo
here in Princeton NJ. Not far away at all. yeah. They will keep their home in Muir Beach.
she needs a used car to keep in condo garage (and a battery minder) and likely I will sell her my volvo since they have had nothing but volvos anyway.
and she knows I'm ocd about maintenance.
which means more time for me on autotrader.

even considering a used Escalade for the comfort and quiet.
maybe one in beige, the least blingy. I have zero desire to attract attention
and not comfortable with image of that vehicle.
used Tahoes and Yukons so expensive might as well spend a little more.
Used Ford Expedition also possible, but GM electronic suspension considered the best.
I need the elevated ride height and big driver door.

can get same interior size in a pickup perhaps for less so keeping my eye out there.
It has to fit in my garage though. I'm good for another two feet longer than what I have now.

spent entire day inside today, have to get out tomorrow. Should be a little warmer.
c'mon Spring ;)

The talk at breakfast yesterday, was one’s sister had a gut opening 6 hr surgery the day before, where they had to remove part of pancreas, rearrange organs, etc. said she came out of surgery with tubes everywhere. But doing ok so far.

Drove my son to his haircut. Waiting in cold vehicle. Roads are fine.
I hope she's doing well after surgery, but sure hope no one was chowing down on their link sausage and runny eggs during that part of the conversation.
