The past Globalism has been about, "peace through mutual dependancy." There is a valid argument for certain levels of specialization but that has reached the point certain specialists dominate and control the world with a monopoly on certain resources and production capabilities.

"ICE makers?" The article is mostly focused on Honda and Nissan, both of whom were EV pioneers, and both of whom currently make many EV's. Heck, Honda made the first ever production hybrid, 25 years ago with that silly Insight, before companies like Tesla were even a dream. Nissan was one of the first to make a really big investment in BEVs with the LEAF, back in 2010!

It's interesting that mergers are predicted, and movement away from ICE's to various EV tech's may be a factor, but these companies shouldn't be classed as just "ICE makers".
