Which type socket holder works best in a tool chest?

In the service truck the magnet holders work best for me.

In the shop I took a different approach with Craftsman sockets bought about 40 years ago in a molded case.

I used the bandsaw to trim the case to fit the drawers…

So far so good.

I use this style.

They release pretty easy unless the socket drawer is left open and collects dust and grit. I like how easy it is to customize my set up or rearrange to add new sockets.

For the old stationary toolbox, even the normally pesky steel socket holders work - since they're riveted in place.
