You Know You Are Old When

Well hell I've had both and now because of the flomax I take every morning I'm so regular it gets to be ridiculous every hour or less till noon or so then every couple of hours. I know were every Stewarts shop and McDonalds is and which door is closer to the rest rooms. Outside around the house or farms not bad lots of trees or tractors to step behind.
I know exactly what you are saying! Because of kidney stones I have to drink, lots, and there are times daily I quite literally cannot make it even 15 minutes between trips to my favorite tree. Many, many I have gone before I would leave the house and by the time I drove 13 miles to town barely make into a rest room.
Maybe I should refrain from mentioning that I had to take my own catheter out...
BTDT, it was after the roto rooter and Doc said just deflate it and pull it out in the shower. Yeah, right, as has been mentioned that thing must have almost reached my throat. Blood flew everywhere but the worst part was it DID NOT fully deflate. It is amazing how BIG a thing can pass though there. I still shiver thinking about it after all these years.
As long as I curtail my liquid intake a few hours before bedtime, I can make it through the night just fine without having to get up a make a run to the bathroom during the night.
I stop drinking anything between 6 and 8, then if I am LUCKY when I go to bed between midnight and one I can make it about 2 hours before getting up for the first time. A full eight hours of undisturbed sleep would probably kill me.

My father at 80+ insisted on working on the farm.
He had prostate issues therefore a catheter installed with the pee bag strapped to his leg.
He found the bag got in the way and the catheter made the opening to his urethra sore.
So he took it all out and would reinsert it himself when he had to urinate.
Several times a day.
I saw the size of the catheter and just shook my head.
I thought I was "blessed" sufficiently but I wondered after seeing that thing.
It was the size of a carpenters pencil and I couldn't see that sliding in once talk about multiple times a day.

Yeowy. Never had one. I'll get one next month for the first time due to some surgery. I'm not looking forward to it. :cautious:
The cathater I just had was painless in general.
What wasn't painless was the heart attack and the 2 hour ride to the closest hospital capable of placing a stent. Lots of intense pain until the stent was placed and then no pain at all. Had 100% blockage of an artery.
2 nd procedure for a smaller blockage was completly painfree.
Now at home resting.

That "carpenter's pencil" is the pull quote I'll always rememeber.

Mr. Max-24-Dean, hope you are resting well and recover 100% quickly...medical technology today is not perfect, but odds are a lot better than they used to be!

Tied it to the doorknob, backed up and slammed the door?
You might want to be careful there. No matter how much time you spent tugging on the thing as a teen, I could imagine someone popping their willy clean off, should the door and the slam both be heavy enough.

I'll be 64 in a couple months. I was still doing everything I wanted to until last March. I could jump up and down on and off loading docks, vault a fence, jump up and grab the attic hatch edges and pull myself up in, swing down off the roof, etc... then ouch happened. ;) I get some vertebrae fused in January. 😛 So those days are over.
My moment came at 68 (77 in Feb) when my son and I quit argueing about who was faster on a dirt bike.

For a minute there, I thought you were saying you were 68 years old in February of 1977....
