I can't remember the last time I picked up a nail for anything but hanging a picture.

One of my sibling bought me a taxidermied largemouth bass at a junk store. Thanks, I guess? It was a gag gift, as I've never caught one that big. Anyhow, I grabbed a nail and hung the fish in my garage to collect dust forever and eternity.

We moved to Wisconsin in 1993. I went to the local hardware for something back then; an old family run place. At checkout I asked for a sack. The little girl looked at me blankly. "A sack?" I asked again. ""I don't know what that is" she said. "I know 'sack the quarterback' ".

I have never felt so old and stupid. I never have used the word 'sack' since. I ask for a bag if I need one.

Make that at least 60 miles here.... If I don't have it, I wind up waiting for it to be shipped in unless I'm desperate.

One of our kids likes to organize things. Once in a while, if she's around for a week or so and looking for things to do, I'll give her the bucket O' bolts and she'll organize them all by size, length, etc... It gives her great peace of mind and a good distraction.

Is she good enough to distinguish M5 from #10-32? I've been dealing with both my whole life, and still sometimes have to remember the job from which that screw came or look for clues in head style, to know for sure.

Still a good chance you don't have what you need.
And you have the to deal with the pangs of guilt that stop you from throwing crap out.
When you need it go for a ride, clear your head and enjoy the free uncluttered space in your garage/barn.
Get it next time you go into town.
What are the odds you need it right now after not using it for 20+ years.

I don't need much nuts and bolts, because I have a fairly large assortment of this and that. If I'm going to need something

I order from the Bolt Depot. Some of these places if you buy 3 bolts, you have to buy 25 washers/nuts. At this place you

can order 1 bolt, 1 washer and 1 nut.
