Cowpoke Coffee

1 - Extra-Large commercial size canister MJB or available budget coffee

Fill large 24-30 cup percolator with water. In coffee basket, add as much coffee grounds as the basket will hold, and then add a little more for good measure. Allow coffee to percolate. Allow to cook down for a hour or two, or three.

Pour cup of coffee. Stir with metal spoon; if spoon does not melt or soften, you did not use enough coffee grounds.

My memories of Grandma and Grandpa, was they could drink this stuff 24 hours a day. This stuff makes Starbucks French roast look like plain water… Straight espresso is wimpy in comparison… May be good for removing paint, ect… warning - it also gave Grandma gas...

From the kitchen of Anna (Grandma). This is Grandma’s classic recipe. From the 1930s till he passed, Grandpa was "The Old Cowpoke" on HAM radio, and later on early CB radio, hence "Cowpoke Coffee".

Im a coffee drinker.. Probably 5-8 a day. A couple in the AM at home, then another one every couple hours throughout the day. and maybe 1 before bed. Im a Dunkin' Donuts fan, But friends from Hawaii send us Kona coffee from a family farm that is probably the best I have ever had anywhere.. It's very potent..and smooth.

Sounds like how my grandfather prepared his Maxwell House. He'd drink it straight, and grandma would douse it down with milk to make it drinkable for her. 🤣

In a blind taste test McDonald's coffee often wins against other commercial brands.

My mother always boiled coffee in a pyrex perc pot without the pump. My grandmother did the same and added a pinch of salt and some egg shells then added boiled milk with the sugar.

Does anyone have a decent coffee machine that you would gladly recommend?
I use a Keurig with refillable pods, and grind my own beans most days.

On the weekend, I tend to use a stainless French press, or a 5-cup siphon pot. Mine is similar to this.

Do you know what the purpose of the egg shells was?
