You Know You Are Old When

There was a knot shaped like a rabbit (if you use your imagination) in the wood paneling over the door between the living room and the kitchen in the house I grew up in. I remember my Dad carrying me on his shoulders going in to dinner so I could pet the rabbit on the way in (60 years ago).

That's a great memory!

We had some things in our house and yard very similar. All of my siblings remember them.

I remember riding around on my father's shoulders when I was kid.
I also remember lifting him onto his hospital bed before he died.
He went from being the bull in the room if he was in a mood to a dried out Egyptian mummy.
In some ways life is just F'n cruel.

Yep. My father was 6'3" 230#. Never saw him weak until one day I was giving him a tour of my employer's facilities and he ran out of breath on the stairs. We had to stop. He told me it's been happening a lot lately. I made him go to the doc. Cancer. He passed away within a few months. Lost a lot of weight. His mind was there right up until the end.

29 years ago this month. I do miss him and think of him daily, though. All good thoughts.

Ours, too. Doesn't matter much now... I was a very small child with four bigger, older sisters. Fast forward 63 years and they barely come up to my shoulder. I remind them of this as often as I can.

Well, I just canceled SiriusXM on my wifes Jeep as well as the Uconnect on line with no issues, then added the Equinox to our plan. Got my confirmation of the cancelations and the switch in less then 20 minutes as emails.

I did too but the overdue notices kept coming. Hopefully you won’t experience that.

When I was a teenager I put some graffiti on the walls of "my corner" of the cellar. It was still there when my sisters and I sold the house last spring, even though my father took over that corner when I moved out in the late 60s.

Christmas was great but I got yet another reminder that I’m getting old.

We had a bunch of younger nieces and nephews over Christmas Eve. I had Dean Martin and Bing Crosby Christmas songs going as background music.

My 18 year old niece asked “who is singing”?

I said “Bing Crosby, maybe the best singer ever”. She looks at me and says “who is that”.

OMG in their language.

After much discussion and and a brief survey, turns out NONE of the kids 18 or under had any clue whatsoever about Bing Crosby, Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra. Not a clue.

I am getting old!!!

You’re not old. You’re cultured. I am, too, as I prefer them to today’s singers in most cases.
