Growing up the neighborhood was a sea of American Flags and the Catholic School I attended had mandatory school mass every Dec 7 where the priest spoke about Peal Harbor... he carried shrapnel from December 7th.

Only my flag is out today as the greatest generation has all but passed.

Thanks for posting. I just did a search on the number of survivors. 16 per CNN. As the "greatest" pass on, let us hope that they are never forgotten. 🙏

Growing up there was a Chrysler K car with Pearl Harbor Survivor plates in the neighborhood; I never met the fellow, I was rather young, but I was always in awe of having someone who was living history in our little area.

I hope he lived a long life.

Pearl Harbor Day.

When I was a kid in grade school, a scholastic book truck came to school and I bought a book about WWII, read it, and discussed it with my father, who was drafted into that war. Ever since then I've always taken the time to think about it on December 7.

Thanks for posting. (y)

We visited Pearl Harbor a few years ago and went to both the Arizona and the Missouri. I’m sure it was well thought out to dock the Missouri near the Arizona. The symbolic start of the war is the Arizona and the surrender was signed on the deck of the Missouri.

Is there still oil bubbling up from the Arizona?
