IIRC, those brass-plates were a "monkey".... so we got, Freeze the Balls off a Brass Monkey....That's like the term it will get cold enough to freeze your
balls off. That came from the old sailing man of war ships
that had canon and the racks for the canon balls were made
of brass and when it got very cold the canon balls would fall
of the rack hense the term "freeze your balls off"
