Was also wondering how your new stove is working out ? Are you happy with the performance of it ?
It is a good match for the old farm house and using smaller fires in the milder temperatures to not overheat but it can pump out a lot of heat by stacking more wood in the large firebox and then also has a fan in the back of the stove to circulate more air if desired
Should have upgraded much earlier for sure

Morning all, 38 going to 57 and sunny.
Fun weekend, but lots of driving. LI traffic always in the way.
South shore to North shore drives. Good seeing old friends and my Friends daughter get married.
All at an old restaurant that my mother loved when I was growing up.
It's changed a lot with a much larger indoor space and the hotel is much larger now.
Brother is doing fine, and their dog was happy to see us.

Phil/Mpham happy birthday to the wife.

Scotty - Happy birthday to SIL

David/Sodamo - Happy birthday - the running boards look great.

LS - many prayers sent for your wife and you, so sorry to hear, hope things turn around.

M7040 - Hope D feels better soon.

Rip - certainly hope things improve. We always have some family drama with Fathers GF, and while it's harder to deal with since they are on west coast, the advantage is I can have days where I don't have to deal with her at all.

Mostly - I have Pancreas issues, so eating can be an issue with pain etc. when traveling. I love to travel, but now it's quite stressful. But I am still doing ok, so these few days of dealing with it are not so bad.

Hard watching everyone having the LI Duck, one of my favorites and something I had a few times at the restaurant portion of where the wedding was.
The Grooms uncle, we found out, has a distillery and he brought samples. We have one we brought home, maybe I will have thanksgiving, not being able to drink is a pain. But I suffer for days even after just one drink, so I rarely imbibe anymore.

Kid and his not girlfriend  did a good job of dog sitting, and house wasn't too messy when we got home.

Be well,

Amazing cake toppers. Wedding went well.

Buttercup happy to see us, but always looks worried. She did not like the heavy winds last few days.

The news out of Laos. Several tourists died from alcohol poisoning
This is in the area that D was visiting recently.
Drinking alcohol in some areas of the world can potentially be lethal

They server "whisky" with all kinds of stuff in it, I have a small bottle downstairs in my basement bar.
They were offering a sample taste from a large glass jar that had a snake in it.
Needless to say I passed on the opportunity.
Many Mexican bars at tourist areas were also found with wood alchohol in it. Some kids drowned after drinking a few drinks while sitting in a hot tub, so it made the news.
We had one drink at a popular bar in Acapulco, and felt dehydrated shortly afterwards, so it is a bit too common in many tourist spots.

Always need to be on the lookout as a tourist to any sketchy areas, but even big tourist spots like Cancun have had this issue.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 8:30AM. Rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain for the afternoon. High 57F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

Sorry to hear the sad news, Ted. Hang in there.

There's a YouTuber that covers disaster content in Butte County, and he released a new video covering the recent rain storms. It shows scenes of creeks and rivers carrying a lot of water, along with some flooded roads. Then he goes online and shares maps showing where flood control dams and levies have been constructed, and where storm water flows. Turns out a lot of new homes have been built north of Chico on land that regularly floods because there are no levies in place to protect it. FEMA flood maps show the location to be out of the flood zone, but it's not really. Just another disaster waiting to happen.

There was no 120 volt wire in the guest bathroom, but there was a wire leading to it from the great room. So I hooked that wire up to a 120 volt wire in the great room and the lights came on in the bathroom. Unfortunately so did the outside lights! Very confusing, so I'm on the verge of taking out all of the multi-way switches and simplifying down to one light, one switch.

The Ford looked like it had a low tire because it had sunk a bit into the mud. Ten inches of rain in three day'll do that. But the batteries in the Ford were so low it almost didn't start. Hooked it up to a Battery Saver charger and it said it was full after only an hour. I tried another charger and got the same result. So I'll bring a battery load tester on the next trip and see if the 18 month old batteries are any good.

Traced the fuel line from the carb to the fuel tank on the firetruck, and found the fuel pump mounted on top of the tank. It's almost impossible to get to, and the tank would have to be dropped to get the fuel pump out. Fifty years of rust won't make the job easy. I'll probably end up rigging up a new external fuel pump, then tapping a new line into the tank somewhere near the bottom. Or just sell it off at a loss, after the holidays. I really don't have time to fool with it.

Finally heard back from the guy that wanted to buy the auger, so maybe that'll happen today or tomorrow. Otherwise that'll have to wait for the next trip, too.

I see Danner is having a 40% off sale, a good deal with folks like me with wide feet.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Drew I like the drive of the Tundra. Sophie had a real challenge getting in and out before the running boards but OK now. Says an inch or two lower to ground would have been even better. She does miss the over the door handle. The one on the pillar less effective.
