Good morning!!!!

the afternoon went as expected, and a cold wet day it is, cold rain on head sure made me wish I had brought a hat.
bottom line no sale.
GM does not offer Supercruise on any model with the new straight six small diesel, the one I wanted since it gets 27mpg on the highway.
deal killer in first two minutes.
plus no air bag suspension unless 22 inch tires and 6.2 V8, exactly what I don't want.
they were very nice though

going to price out a Ram and see if it moves me to go chat.
I don't want a leftover hemi, I want the new engine, so unlikely RNG they are going to throw big bucks at me

weather station still showed zero rain when I got home so that is caput. Temps work but not rain.
Going to see if by any chance it's plugged but I doubt it. Maybe I'll put in fresh batteries just to rule that out.
Drew my digital rain gauge stopped working. Found stem on a leaf was blocking operation of sensor.

This would be an easy solution if you have a tank type water heater.
Thanks for the link, Paul. Looks like an easy install. Have you ever used this system? If not, how are you rigging up the OFH system?

I ask because there are some Buts:

As Don mentioned, it does make the cold water run luke warm until the recirculated luke warm cold water clears. My worst problem is with the master bath shower, where it takes several minutes to get hot water. So if I'm waiting several minutes for the luke warm cold water to clear, but I get instant hot water, I'd be starting the shower with a lower hot water flow setting to keep from scalding myself. Then I'd get blasted by luke warm or even cold water when it finally gets to the shower. That might not be a problem if the shower valve is temperature compensating, but I don't know how to tell.

Another But is the large number of folks reporting pump failure after only a few months or a year. It seems Watts only gives a one year warranty, which isn't very long for a pump that will be in use every day. Customers that had pumps fail in warranty had to pay postage to send the old one back first, which is apparently subject to steep postage charges due to the weight. And then it can take Watts up to six weeks to send the replacement.

Then I read that keeping the water hot by reheating the water can cost as much as $5 A DAY! That's $150/month, more than I'm already paying for the water now. With not much more added investment, I could put an electric on demand water heater in that bathroom. But only if the water pipes are in the attic and not in the slab foundation.

I'm just full of questions today...

looking at radar, pretty good storm easing over, looks like RS is about get snowed on and coming this way.

happy to report I think weather station is back working, took off water collection cup and measurer/dipper was hung up
on casing by leafy dirt. Just like Ron's.

RNG
All good questions.
The answers involve a lot of variables, like how do you heat your water, are the water lines all in conditioned space, how hot do you have your DHW set to? What determines if the pump runs?

So far in my limited experience, the warm(ish) cold water is a complete non issue. Remember that the valve stops recirculation at a fairly low temp. In my system the pump shuts off when there is no flow.

Grundfos also sells a similar system (Watts actually uses a Grundfos valve). Grundfos pumps are regarded to be high quality.
I can’t imagine that there would be that much heat lost in the hot water line to cost $5 per day, if you insulated the line I’d guess that the cost would be negligible.

Good Evening ,
We did drive through a McDonalds and get her a cheeseburger for lunch on the way home
Hey Paul, hopefully no slithered onions ! Good luck with the new valve !

Dennis, that screw is in the tread section, a plug should not pose a problem ! 🙏

Good Evening Again,
Before we left on vacation I ordered a new carburetor for the GX390 Honda generator! For the heck of it I removed the brass bolt on the new carb and installed it on the old carb ! Voila, that seems to have done the trick on my generator issues ! The new carb was only $18 so I have a new carb in case I have any further issues ! 🙏

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 16.5C and it's presently 23.6C, partly cloudy & fairly calm.

Yesterday it turned out that I wasn't on the computer-booking for the Dentist. Oh well. I made another appointment for 6 months from now as I'm not experiencing any problems.

So I continued with wood stacking for a couple of hours. Which is what I'll do again this arvo. Things are warming up so I don't want to waste any good 'stacking weather'.

That's about it, take care all.

I don’t think it went thru, but afraid to pull it and find out it did. They don’t like to plug that close to the edge
