YKYO if you remember lining up for shots at school
Remember the sugar cube with orange liquid on it for polio? I'm guessing about 1961.
Then this weird vacinnation that was like 6 short needles. I still have the white scar on my upper arm.
Then Argyrol pack for sinus infection. The doctor would tear off about 1" cotton cloth, then bend end of a long wire for cloth dipped in purple (I'm thinking) Argyrol and push it w-a-yyyyy up into your nose. Leave it for so many minutes then do other side.
My grandfather did that as well as a local ear, nose & throat doctor who died not long ago at 104! It worked great but taken off the market.
My grandfather was an MD, surgeon and osteopath. He was next door on the farm and I sure miss those treatments. My brother & I were always falling out of all tree or something and he had a treating table at home. I'd hear all this snapping & popping and we were fixed! He showed me some maneuvers so I could adjust him.
To this day if my wife can't turn her head one way I'll snap it back.
He was a mechanical engineer before becoming a physician and osteopathic he said made sense because the skeleton is mechanical and needs alignment.

YKYO if you bought a kite kit that included 2 sticks and a ball of string. You used newspaper and homemade paste to make the kite, then tore up some old shirt or sheet to make the tail... Days of exercise and fun

Great memories! I made a kite as a kid and it wasn't stable...zig-zagging so my grandfather said it needed a longer tail. A few friends helped me launch it on a windy day...wind was just right blowing South in front of grandparents home. One friend's mother worked at a sewing factory so we had this large thread spool with a broomhandle through it. I had written my "name, phone number, address, county, state, USA, Earth" on it.
It took off about 45° up...grandad got binoculars & all we could do holding broomhandle. Then it was out of sight even with binoculars then empty spool spinning.
I'd love to know where it ended up...probably Mexico!

Can't do that anymore.

I remember going with my Dad to buy a case of dynamite to remove stumps. That was a different world.

I remember wandering around the pediatrician's office around age 3 or 4, while the doc was giving my younger brother a check-up. I remember it very clearly because, after wandering into an adjacent exam room, a nurse came in and gave me a shot in my rear! I was so upset, thinking I accidentally got someone else's shot, whoever was supposed to be in that room, since I wasn't supposed to be there. :ROFLMAO:

Now I know that it was probably a shot I was due, and the nurse was just sent to find me and administer it. But for at least a year back then, I swore I unfairly got someone else's shot.

Lots of Vicks vapor rub, when I was a kid. That and Robitussin were mom's go-to choices.

I was probably in my 30's before I ever tried NyQuil for a bad cold or flu. If your stomach can take the syrup, it's a great way to sleep off a cold! Damn stuff will knock you out for 3-4 hours after each dose. :ROFLMAO:
Interesting, it's NyQuil ha never effected me in that way. It does seem to be somewhat effective for colds. But Brandy, sugar and lemon juice does also.

I remember going with my Dad to buy a case of dynamite to remove stumps. That was a different world.
As a little fella I went with Pa to the local hardware store for dynamite to remove some huge old Elm tree stumps.
While there I saw a 22 rifle that was kinda my size. I took it off the shelf and brought it to the order counter where Pa was and showed it to him.
Nobody thought anything of a 5-6 year old carrying a gun around the store or the Old Man buying a box of dynamite, fuses, ammunition and a gun.
We left with both items. No problem.
Try and do that today.
