Kioti
2016 Kioto tractor, 170h, got it a week ago. Went on the overgrown field and the rear tire got damaged on the side. Now the repair shop tells me I have to buy 2 new tires and they are over $800 piece, because it can’t be repaired. Any thoughts?

Some tires just can not be repaired. A picture or two will help the discussion.

What is a Kioti 170H? I didn't find anything in tractordata.
What size tire are you talking about?

Few if any tire shops will repair sidewall damage in the US. Now if you go any third world country you can get fixed in a day.

Put a boot and a tube in it.
There is your answer.

My neighbor has a 100hp Kubota. He put a 3/8" x 3" gash in his front tire. The local dealer had a product that looked like black calking that he put on it. It is still holding several years later. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it.

I ran over something and split the sidewall of my 9.50x24 front tire. I grabbed a rear tire and rim off of an Allis Chalmers B that I had and headed for the tire shop that i had used before for tractor tires. Called him, told him I was 25 minutes out. I got there and he said he just sent all his guys home, have to leave it and pick it up next week. I left and stopped by the shop that does my semi truck tires, and the service manage looked at them, and said $100 to make the swap. When the tire tech got to me, he said did you want to just fix the one on it, or use the other one. I preferred to use the original if it could be fixed, but seriously a 5 inch rip in the sidewall wasn't an easy fix, in my opinion. He fixed it, aired it up and there is almost a 1/4" gap where the cut is, but it hasn't missed a beat like that! I didn't even put a tube in it, which I would have normally done. Still have the Allis Chalmers tire in reserve, but that has been at least a year!
