I have airtag in my vehicles, tied to my phone. Only I can track them. However, when my wife or son drives, they continually gets a notification on their phone that there is an air tag nearby. Not sure how long they have to be in contact with the airtag to get the notification, but it's to warn people if they are being tracked.....

The original purpose of the airtag type thing is so you can easily find your keys or your wallet; presumably in this age you always have your phone on you of course. Using them to track stuff that may get stolen from you was a later idea, as was gluing one behind the bumper of a woman's car that someone wanted to stalk. Some bad PR came along with that which made Apple & Android alert people if an unrecognized airtag type thing is detected travelling with the phone.

I have a similar thing (pebblebee, was sold at costco) I figured I'd give a try because we lose track of one of the key fobs for my wife's car. You should be able to register one device to more than one phone so that it doesn't bother family members.

Probably 15-20 years ago the local auto parts store was selling a tracking device which touted “monitor your kids driving, find out if your spouse is cheating.”
I got along good with the female clerk and told her “whether it’s justified or not, if somebody puts one of those on my truck it’s automatically over between us.”

They didn’t sell them long, likely because of the stalker aspect.

Two Tactacams are up and running...somewhat. One of them gave color photos for about 4 hrs and now nothing but B&W. Tried calling again, wait times over 30 mins. Went to "Chat", same thing. Sent email and 15hrs later received reply saying it was being assigned to the next available person...that was 24hrs ago. Cameras are supposed to take instant photo or video (cost extra for that) and they aren't.
Wife gets photos and video on her phone that I don't get on my computer and I get photos (no video) on my computer that she doesn't get on her phone.
Company sucks.

Interesting you are having such issues, I wonder if it could be due to your spotty coverage at your property.

When Tactacam was new on the scene about 3 or 4 years they were the best out there. The new cameras were flying off the shelves, they were hard to find. Had some really great costumer service experiences early on. Got my camera stolen and they got it back for me. Literally talked the guy who ended up with it to give it back to me. I drove 30 minutes and picked it up from the guy. Allegedly his son acquired it from a "friend" and the kid didn't know it was stolen. Maybe the issues you are experiencing are apart of those growing pains and a product of their quick rise in popularity. Regardless that stuff is frustrating. I hope you get it worked out.
