Just remember in most cases it seems cameras are useless for real evidence to catch criminals. Use them to see who is snooping around but unless you are very close friends with the police they probably can't or won't do anything.
One needs to be alerted that something is happening and then let the dogs out "because they had to do their business".
/edit
I've also found that just random firing the 12 gauge off the porches at night seems to keep people away for some reason.

For 2 years I was dealing with weekly fence cuts, broken windows and locks at a commercial fenced parking lot...

Thought about cameras but since property crime isn't prosecuted I figured the camera would disappear.

Two months now and no issue...

Apparently there was a druggy one man crime spree and now nowhere to be seen... related... I don't know but it only takes one.

Maybe he hit the jackpot on one of his crime sprees and shared the spoils with his drug dealer who provided him with pure uncut amounts of his favorite past time? That could be the excuse for his disappearance?
Or maybe in reality he took one too many chances, and somebody with a rifle, a backhoe and a piece of ground ended his spree?

Just showing a firearm here will get you a trip downtown unless you have a permit even in your front yard…
I suppose if I walked the streets of Spokane with my shotgun slung over my shoulder - LEO would stop and have some questions. However - if I was being good - not a darn thing they could do. Same with a semi- auto assault rifle.

Interesting...

Even in WA I'm in county but in a no shooting zone...

Didn't read everything so I don't know what else is suggested.

I have on of these: Amazon.com

I purchased it specifically because it does not require any type of internet connection. However you do need to buy a memory card for it because it does not come with one. You can connect to it with your a smart phone using bluetooth if you are in range, but it is not required for operation. It works well, I've had mine for more than 2 years.

There are probably threads on this already, but I am in a hurry and don't have much time to search and read.
I am clearing and getting ready to build on some land and I got hit Sunday sometime. I have four shipping containers that have building materials in them along with some other personal things from our move stored. The broke the locks and stole three chainsaws that I know of, ransacked the other containers. Police want us to inventory the containers to see if anything is missing, which we are about to leave this morning and start doing.
What I need quick advice on is, what is a good trail cam that can be used in a place with basically zero cell service and no electricity? Specific brands and models and if you are using, or know someone who is using under similar conditions.
What really pi** me off was they smashed the side door on my cargo trailer and tried to pry open the engine cover on my new excavator.
I will not be able to give a lot of fast responses to any posts here, but please know I will be reading them and respond when I can.
With a little imagination, it’s not hard to configure an alarm system with autodialer. If you have cell service/hotspot, setup a network for the cameras and alarm to talk to the autodialer.

It is a shame that more of these f ing little scumbags are cured with lead, because that is the only thing that will turn this trend around. Worthless scumbag thieves should have absolutely NO rights when caught in the act, they should be treated like the vermin that they are.
Getting them arrested is tough around here. Going further takes time and money. They have more “rights” than you and I.Recovering items that you paid for, is darn near impossible. Frustration, aggravation and perseverance isn’t much help, just leads to more frustration.
