Good morning!!!!

73F and sunny @ 10:45, heading up to around 86F for the day's high.

Ran soaker hose for 20 minutes on the row of indeterminate tomatoes on the vertical trellis first thing yesterday. Probably do that again today.

After that checked the gear oil in the front axle of the Kubota and it looked good. Then checked the hydraulic fluid and it was low so I topped it off.

Headed up to work on screening the rescreen pile. Got 2 bucketloads fed through the screen and then drip coming out of the right lift cylinder on the loader turned into a small but steady stream ... 🤬

Ok ... guess there's no putting that off any longer.

Fortunately, hot weather is due in and rebuilding it is something that can be done in the shop in the AC.

Decided to mow instead. Got the east side all mowed, then mowed some more over on the west side. West side all done except the area under the large oak trees where the grass doesn't grow much anyways.

Acorns have started to fall over there so I figured I avoid mashing them up and let the squirrels and the deer have at them.

Suet feeder refilled.

Trigger rod on live trap adjusted and re-baited, with any luck will have a customer this morning.

Got another gallon of glyphosate sprayed over on the east side of the house and along the driveway down here by the house.

Sprayer refilled.

Went out and picked tomatoes last night, got one nice cake as well.

Woman planning on making tomato puree today which will get frozen and eventually canned ... along with what is already in the freezer. Need to make room for the peppers.

Got all the baked-on peanut oil cleaned off the bottom of the turkey deep fryer late last night.

May have to use that for water-bath canning as it looks like it's the only thing big enough to take the 7 jar rack.

Can't for the life of me figure out what we used to use back in the day. Seem to be dimly recalled a large Graniteware pot ... maybe that was it.

Meds doled out for this coming week.

Unfortunately, I ended up staying up all night ... so probably a nap for me at some point this afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

We got all the bits of wood and bark cleaned up in the basement. All the bark and stuff went onto a second compost pile.
Now all we have to do is throw the remains of last years wood into a corner closer to the wood furnace. That will be the wood that will help to dry this winters wood.
Gotta call the guy that certifies our chimney. He will clean it and certify it for a price. That way (certification is usually good for two years), IF the insurance company wants a copy of the certification I can give them a current one.

You tube rabbit hole, here I come.

OK, another section of trimming done.... having a cold drink and break....
I just might be able to finish today, fingers crossed.

Bill, how much wood do you go through in a season? Do you just use the furnace for backup?

70°F and 1.57 inches rain. More to come. Hurricane just off to SE of island.
Forecast to be more a rain than wind event.

Lunch scheduled with my retired military group up in Waimea, further from storm.

No other plans for the day

Did get test run of my hydroponics with just water. Need to learn how to tweak the flow. My pump likely on the large side so the speed control will be important. That controller should be here Monday.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Projected Path
(The red-shaded area denotes the potential path of the center of the tropical cyclone. It's important to note that impacts (particularly heavy rain, high surf, coastal flooding, winds) with any tropical cyclone usually spread beyond its forecast path.)
Here's what impacts to expect in Hawaii: Heavy rain and strong winds will reach the Big Island on Saturday and then continue through Sunday, lingering into Monday. A flood watch is in effect for the Big Island.

The rain will be heaviest on windward and southeast-facing slopes and could amount to 5 to 10 inches, with maximum totals up to 20 inches on the higher peaks of the Big Island. Flooding is possible where rainfall becomes excessive.
