Back from todays meandering. Stopped at the orchard in PA. Corn was $1 an ear, $5 for 6, $6 a dozen... we got the dozen.. Peaches were $52 half bushel, no thanks. We paid $20 at another orchard for half bushel. But, wife did pick up a few at $1.50 a lb just to try different variety. She got the apples she wanted, which was purpose of the trip.
Then went down the road just a little bit for a milkshake, expensive but good.

We have caught them double charging before and had everything go back to the insurance company to sort that out.
We just asked them to go through it and give us detail on each item, and like magic a few disappeared.
The problem is the hospital says, they (ER Doctor and Radiology) are 3rd party, we don't see what they bill... I say, it's all done in your ER, you should handle the billing for all parties involved. I think all 3 are double dipping, but I can't prove it. Even if it goes to insurance, which the Dr bill did not, they are processed as separate claims to insurance, and they don't always put 2 and 2 together... I at least gave my insurance company a list of all the claims (6) and said these are the same incident.

nice to see that home heating oil has dropped 20 percent this year, down to 3.19 from 4 bucks a gallon.
doing a prebuy for 300 gallons, had a credit from last year.

not real happy to feel my new crown be very sore. Would not be first time I needed a root canal
on almost new crown. Timing not very good either. Taking penicillin for a couple days and will see if that helps.
Otherwise I'll be at the dentist on Monday.

David, that was pretty heavy grass you went through. Too bad it can't be used for something like feeding
your herd of Hawaiian wagyu beef...
better check all your air screens, I found mowing heavy stuff really kicked up the bugs
though the best part is the birds would then come and swoop down over the field, thanking me for
kicking up their dinner

. Trying to decide to leave well enough alone, or have them go thru insurance.
Still trying to decide if hospital bill for CT scans is same as the radiology bill for CT scans. seems they both want to bill for the same thing also. United health seems to think they are separate, but why?
If you are basically whole, and trying to sort out how the insurance company is pissing money away, I would let it go, you will never get them to do something sensible, it’s just not your job to train them.

You won’t help your rates, they will just waste what you save them somewhere else.

If you are fighting for your money, that’s another story…..

Back from the grocery shopping. Got out without having a mortgage..... under $150. BUT the list for Costco is growing...... I'm sure the deficit will be made up there.....

Independent billing has been a "standard practice" for at least 15 years. The hospital bills for the facility and equipment. The independents bill for 'labor' and the costs associated (like liability insurance). Example: the hospital owns the CT scanner, and charges $2000. The staff works for ABC radiology, they bill $2000 for the technicians.

Yes, it is messed up and really difficult to sort out. The reason being is that the insurance companies have set "pay schedules" limiting the percentage of the bill that they pay in full. This varies depending on the item / procedure billed. Having each party submit a bill nets them more per bill.

I got lawyers involved a few years ago with coverage issues through third parties. I lost. It was for a surgery in the seven figures. We managed to get the hospital to forgive some debt owed...but we were still on the hook for a large sum of money. Some BS procedure that was not on the books between the parties...
Medical insurance does bankrupt people. I fight every bill. Because if you don't have transparency you.. the customer...get screwed. You can appeal bills. If you feel something is amiss...do it.

Sorry to hear it.
Cracked my tooth earlier this week and the new to me dentist did a real good job(so far).
Hardly felt the shots and for a pretty extensive reconstruction no pain.
The finished surface is so smooth I can't tell where the filling starts or ends.
The dentist I went to years ago could learn something from this guy.
Best of luck with your situation. No pain worse than a bad tooth.

Finally stayed out of the hundreds today, hi was 99.3˚ with a Heat Index of 111˚. Got the blue room painted alabaster but it took another gallon because we also had to paint the blue ceiling, shoulder was not happy and will probably be yelling when I try to sleep tonight and since a week before surgery no Advil.

Edit: A surprise thunderstorm just hit NICE, Temp dropped to 76˚ and we had .43" rain.
