Indians are the best, It's the Harleys that have all the problems

That's a line from an old Indian add. I'm sure I butchered it. ;-)
What a lot of people don’t know is that Indian Motorcycles are made today by Polaris .

New shoes for the scoot!
GSA on Raids.JPG

I just finished my third set of Dunlop Trailmax Missions, and now switched over to the Dunlop Trailmax Raid. It's a true 40/60 tire, will give MUCH more stable off road manners whilst keeping the planted on road feel I love. Looking forward to hitting the Uwharrie National Forest!

Nice bike!! These look not bad at all, a lot better then the mission that's for sure... I just bought the Motoz Tractionator RallZ. (haven't put them on yet) Right now I have the pirelli MT21 rallycross and it wore out so quick its not even funny, plus the lugs are ripping off... but I am anxious to see how the rallz will hold up, folks say they are insanely tough we will see.

I've heard great things about the Rallz... I have never ridden on them though. My BMW is a heavyweight, so I expect that these Raids won't give me the miles that the Missions did. Let me know how you like the Rallz! I'm planning a multi day camping trip up in Uwharrie soon, waiting for the weather to cool off a wee bit...

OK, sure will ... sound like an adventure... for sure, unfortunately more aggressive they are faster they wear down. I will put mine on mid September for hunting season so I will know then... There is nothing like new rubber 🥲 if I could I would I'd have some every second ride lol

Yep, and they're great. My son has had a Scout Bobber and a Chief; I have a Challenger. The Challenger is awesome. Rode HD FXRS's for decades; was a big change in bikes. Love it.

Yes, Indian is a division of Polaris. Kind of like Chevy is a division of General Motors. HD folks get real hung up on that; I don't know why.

yeah not made by its own by them, it's two different things... I don't know why that would matter, I am not fan of Polaris products in general but Polaris was created in the USA, their headquartered is in Minnesota, most of the manufacture of Indian are in the USA. I don't get the apparent jab towards it the company is Indian not Polaris.

My 15 year old son wants a dirt bike now... We said no to a street bike at 16. So, this may be a fun journey! Trying to impress upon him the value of light bikes in lieu of more HP.

I don't either. Harley in my opinion copied what is referred to as that Harley Sound from the Indian Motorcycle. Those old Indian Motorcycles sounded great.

There was a difference between the Harley and the Indian that caused confusion in some.

Harley:

Left Shifter - Right Throttle except.

The shifter is normally on the left side of the engine/transmission of modern Harley Davidson motorcycles, but in the 1970’s some of thenXL Sportster motorcycles had the shifter and brakes swapped sides and the shifter was on the right side of the engines, similar to British motorcycles

Old Indian Motorcycles.

Old Indians had the throttle on the left handlebar. The shifter was also on the right side opposite from the Harley. The magneto spark advance was also on the right Handlebar.

Buying a Magneto for a Motorcycle today will give one heart palpitations

I have a 1999 Honda Valkyrie Interstate, made in the USA in Marysville, Ohio, with 350,000 miles, bought new, never been into the motor, just normal maintenance and still runs like new and will wax a Harley.
I put a magnet under my bike to trip traffic signals but I had to take it off, every time I got home I had to remove al the Harley parts it picked up.
