Massey Ferg GC1705 PTO Fubar

I learned an expensive lesson, the shaft connecting the brushhog to the PTO was apparently too long and when trying to move some dirt with brushhog attached, it resulted in the PTO going through the housing and hydraulic fluid everywhere. The guy that came out to try and repair said we would be better off buying a new tractor. If there was a way to seal off that big hole, could we still use the tractor to just pull a wagon and just not use the PTO or loader?

Sorry to learn this. Once I was backing up a brush hog and it started to raise up and climb a hill and I worried about this exact thing happening. fortunately I stopped.

Hope there is a way to salvage this!

You may consider fashioning a blocking plate to cover the rear opening where the PTO was removed. Using gasket sealer it should prevent leaks from the hydraulic reservoir. If your hydraulics are otherwise intact you may be able to use the tractor for pulling and use the loader.
