Good morning, the low temp is 58 and going to a high of 66°F. Wind WNW 6 mph. 30% chance of showers.
A good day for working outside.

I may turn the compost pile today or I may build a hut over the hose reel to house a fire extinguisher and protect the black hose from the sun. I have lots of little projects that need doing before the snow flies.

I could see the smoke, but it was a huge fire and I'm glad it didn't happen on my end of town!
Traffic backed up for miles. 290 is a major highway between Austin and Houston....and all points in between. (Like ZZ Top sang)

Been outside cleaning up bear damage...he pulled a long dead limb off the paulownia where we had 4 feeders hanging. 2 are now junk, I fixed the other two. He also bent to the ground two shepherd hooks to get feeders off...totally ignored the hummingbird feeders this time.

72 outside this AM, heading into the 90's. Again.

Rain forecast this afternoon. Last I checked we are down quite a few inches from where we should be. It shows as the grasses and plants are browning out and wilting most everywhere.

The young red-tailed hawk has been fun to watch...here it is sitting on the shotgun weather vane my son gave me.

...and here is Della in angel mode after playing for hours with my son's dog.

Planning on taking her for a swim in a mountain stream tomorrow.
