Corded Leaf Blower

About a year ago, my wife bought a cheap, $24 corded leaf blower on Amazon that I figured was a waste of money. She wanted to blow off the deck and didn't want to spend the money on a cordless Makita, which is what all my cordless tools are. I sort of rolled my eyes at her decision, but figured that I would let her learn what happens when you buy cheap tools. I can't believe how wrong I was!!!

This thing is awesome. It has so much power that your wrist will get tired trying to hold onto it when on full speed. It has two speeds. It weighs almost nothing, but it moves a massive amount of air. I started using it on jobs to clean up before staining or painting something for a client, so she bought a second one a few months ago for $27. We where not surprised by the price increase, that's just normal now a days.

I was just telling a friend about it, and looked it up for him. On my Amazon account, it's listed for $47!!! I told my wife, and she looked it up. On her Amazon account, it's listed for $34.

I didn't know that Amazon changes prices on stuff like that, and I was really shocked that it was that big of a difference!!!!! We both have Prime, we both buy stuff on Amazon all the time, but we buy different stuff, and she buys ten times as much as I do on there.

I have owned a corded blower for about 20 years, used it a lot and it works great . Now days corded tools are often much lower priced than they used to be because everyone wants cordless stuff.
About 5 years ago bought a gas powered Stihl blower and paid plenty for it but have seldom used the corded blower since, they both work excellent but it’s nice not having to mess with a cord.
i just might buy a battery operated blower someday.

I don’t buy much on Amazon, was looking for a new air compressor years ago, I’m not a prime member but I put a compressor in shopping cart to find out exactly what it would cost delivered and they wanted about $150 to deliver it so I didn’t buy it, a few days later they sent e-mail saying free delivery so I ordered it.
The blower in your link shows 2 different prices, $47 and $51 on my iPad .

Sounds like the perfect solution for blowing off a deck.
My primary blower is a Stihl backpack blower, which saves me a lot of time commercially. I also use a DeWalt battery blower around the house for smaller jobs.

Eddie, if you want to save money and not be tracked all over the internet, I would suggest that you really need to turn off Facebook, clear your browsing history and cache, and all of the information from the /ref=? to the end. Facebook is making $$$ off of you.
If you do that, the price is $26-$47, $36 with an extension cord. Black and Decker has the cheapest currently.

I have two of the Toro version, one I bought new, and the other I picked up for a few cents at a garage sale. Both work great, but hearing protection is certainly needed. Neither is anywhere close to a Stihl backpack blower.

I have a Black and Decker one that works quite well. I recently bought the cheapest Stihl gas one as I needed something a little more portable at my farm. I would have rather bought an Echo unit but the intake is one the wrong side unless you are left handed. The nice thing about the corded one is not smelling like two-stroke smoke after using.
Amazon does some real shady stuff. The first few minutes of this video was interesting to me. A vendor shows what happens within about 15 minutes of dropping his price on ebay but not amazon. I use amazon as a last resort anymore. One thing I do is put an item in the wish list and then in the comments type in the current price. Of course amazon will make a comment if the price lowers after putting it on your wish list but they never do that if the price raises so that's why I put a comment in on the current price.

Oh ya, as far as corded leaf blowers I use an old toro like this one listed below. I didn’t think it would last but it’s been in use for 15+ yrs. It works great on the decks and the flower garden with the variable speed control, yes the cord can be a little bit of a pain, also have a rigid battery job site blower, works good for light duty stuff. For heavy duty clean up or far from the house my neighbor comes over with his husky backpack blower, need to be carefull with that thing it blow the sod off the ground lol.

As far as amazon, like any other online reseller do your research. Personally Amazon saves me hundreds of dollars every year for the wife’s medical supplies.

Eddie: Off topic, but you and your wife can share 1 Prime membership and save an extra monthly charge. You both will have separate charge accounts/payment methods. You tell Amazon who and what their email is, they send a notice to your added member, when they respond, you get a joint account. Can be anybody with the same delivery address.

Don't recall the brand, but we have a corded electric blower I bought for my mother to blow the leaves off her porch 25+ years ago. Still works great. No proprietary batteries to fool with.

I thought we really needed a cordless one, but in all reality, we just use it to blow off the leaves and dog hair that gets on the porch. I put a screw in the wall to hang it by the outlet, and it takes about two minutes to grab it and clean off what's on the porch. The fact that it's so light and easy to use is probably why we like it so much!!!!

Amazon search is labyrinthine. It is not intended to make finding the cheapest item easy or straightforward, and selecting sort prices low to high removes many results, a number of quite relevant results in my experience. Amazon makes more money if the customer spends more...

That is the best description of it. I don't understand why they send me down the rabbit hole of showing me everything except what I just searched for. I tried looking for a shorter bushing for the PT cutter on Amazon, and basically gave up because Amazon's search is such a total pain, IMO. It's worth it to pay more at McMaster just to not go through the hassle.

I suspect Amazon has some of the best systems available, but why do they engineer their search to show me everything except what I searched for?

Because they have data that shows that people like you will spend more money if they show them something else first, or higher up in the rankings. Any listing that has a "sponsored" label has paid Amazon to be displayed higher on the results pages. So Amazon makes money just letting users wade through listings. Amazon is, I think, therefore incentivized at some level not to show the optimal rankings for the user to find what they want, but rather the results sorted by what will make Amazon the most money.

I've been known to go to Google and type in, say;

site:Amazon.com MR-13B drill sharpener​

and then pick through the results. I use that a lot for websites that have lousy search functions. Some of the sites that I use for hardware have really dysfunctional search functions.
