After having a 2004 F250 with the 6.0 diesel for over 10 years it has enough body rot that it needs to be replaced and I am tired of the expensive repair bill that came with the 6.0.
I am looking for a 2005 4x4 f250 ex cab or crew cab with the V10 with as little rust as possible , I found one in the Denver area on auto trader and it was sold when I was emailing back and forth with a sales man .
Any other places to look other that auto trader or Ebay motors ?

Craigslist is hit or miss, but you can do a nationwide search with what you are wanting.

Instead of emailing, I would call and talk to the person on the phone. Too many scammers use email, and you never know how long it will take a person to look at their email. I normally check my email in the morning, and that's about it.

I have never purchased a used vehicle. I've seen too many "problems" that get laid upon folks who purchase used. There can be more than enough problems even when purchasing new.

I purchase the Taco Wagon - 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon - new in 2019. I have had no problems with this vehicle after 35K miles.

This vehicle - my only road vehicle - was purchased completely for FUN.

I do not haul, I do not tow. I'm retired and NOW it's time for me to have some fun.

I can afford a new truck but I don't want to pay that kind of money for a truck that is not my every day driver . I have never bought a new vehicle my TYM 574 that I bought in 2020 is the first brand new thing with wheels I have ever bought

Six months ago, a brand new Ram 3500 diesel 4x4 was in the mid to high $80's. I just saw an add for one at a dealer for $65

I've read that the market is saturated and they cannot find buyers. Maybe that's true.

I found my 01 2500 8.1L big block suburban and my other somewhat rare car on carguru.com.

aside: I can't imagine spending 80k on a truck. F that noise. My 5k truck is great.

also, if you like the v10, you may find the 8.1L to be as good or better in a chevy. the gmt800 platform is as every bit as good as the ford of a similar vintage. I drove mine about 400 miles today with a smile on my face, and it hauls 10,000 lbs of hay like a champ.

I think the Ram diesels have taken an especially large hit. Possibly the recall and fine have something to do with that.

OK, so let’s break that down.

Ram recalls all 2019 & 2020 cp-4 equipped trucks and at no cost to its’ customers and replaces them all for $0 whether they break or not. Ford forces diesel truck customers to drive their trucks until cp-4 pump fails in the middle of the road, then replace

Rams sales fall because of that?

No.

Well, I did that “noise” and only have 10 payments left on a 5yr 2.9% loan. Should be worth at least 50K as a 5 year old truck with some warranty remaining and that amazing Cummins diesel.
They hold their value, that’s for sure.
Once the ZF-8 comes along, it’ll be like Christmas all over again.

If you're looking for a vehicle 10 to 20 years old, definitely stay away from road salt.

A little rain is OK, but with salt, it is all over. And, a 4x4 pickup will be the one out in the snow!!!

How many miles are you wanting? There are very few F250/F350/2500/3500 vehicles that hit 20 years old with less than 100K miles.

The little old horse ladies do exist. However, at least in our case, when Mom was ready to get rid of her Dodge 2500, it never hit the market. My brother snapped it up before I even knew Mom was ready to get rid of her pickup. And, within a few years he'll have it ground into dust.

It's just a theory I have that Ram prices are down due to the recall. Not because of a practical issue. 2020+ Rams aren't even subject to recall, they just paid an EPA fine for incorrect documentation or something like that. But not many people know the details and will assume the worst. And the recall taints the entire line and brand. A lot of people stopped buying gas VWs after their dieselgate.

Replacing the CP4 would be great, but the emissions recall I'm talking about is the one where they fix the defeat device in software: Cummins Settlement Nationwide Recall Program Overview | US EPA
