Rain

Rain. Rain. And more rain. I need rain to keep my fields green and growing, my tanks full, animals happy etc.... and I know in July and August I'll be begging for some of it. But, I'm praying the All Mighty will just let up for a few weeks so I can work on
my fields, clear downed trees, spread more gravel/repair a road washout, regrade the driveway and try to catch up on other "rain-delayed" farm work. The ground is completely saturated. Two of my peach trees have drowned. I have good slope for drainage in most areas but have standing water in pastures. Last few weeks have been crazy. Rain, hail, high winds, Repeat.
Weather man says MORE on the way this week. Whoopee.
Then we'll probably have some 90*+ weather with 78% humidity!
Just letting it out......now I feel better.

April and May are our dry season, think we got like 0.03" in April. Past 3 days we have gotten about half an inch, but its mostly been just wind.

Just had severe storms and tornado warnings in my area. I haven't gone out to check, but I don't see any damage. Winds were 70+ mph a few minutes ago.

Our rainfall year to date is right around average at 22.58" so far since Jan. 1.

I bet we got another inch or two in the past hour.

Last summer was like that here. It rained nearly every day in June, and half of those in July. Farmers who normally get 2-3 crops of hay in only got one... and much of that was overmature.

I enjoyed growing hay, and took pride in producing a quality product, but I never enjoyed the endless tension of hoping for and finding a weather window, and then trying to race to cut, dry, winnow, bale the hay, and get the bales off the field before the next rain. I hated to have to cut overgrown hay, long stem hay, but it had to be done some times for the health of the next cutting. Farming life. Love it.

We've gotten several rains with 4 1/2" to 5 1/2" in the rain gauge. A light rain lately has been 2 1/2"
Wish I could send you some....

Saw a map. Canada has a lot of drought condition areas across the country....but I'm sure

I get that. Trying to avoid that exact thing, but sometimes you have to cut what you've got.

Not quite that extreme here, but we've had a rather wet spring too, after a winter with hardly any snow.

Rain - what is that??? So far this year I have received 6.45 inches - as logged on my Davis Vantage Pro 2. And we are now going into our dry season.

6.45 inches - that's just a tad over one inch per month. I couldn't even raise popcorn with that little rain.

I'm in Tyler, and it seems to rain about once a week here. Sunday's rain gave us an inch. The week before, it was 2 1/2 inches. My ponds are full and my fields are doing good. The one thing I like about the rain that might not be widely known is how easy trees are to take out in the spring when we've been getting lots of rain. It's so much easier then in Summer when the red clay is like concrete.

We had a helluva storm here last night. It basically followed Interstate 10 across the state.

My brother in law got blown off the road and into the ditch in his small Toyota truck. He also has 2 large pine trees down in his yard, and is still out of power. No damage at my house.

I got 1.8" of rain.

Supposed to have 2 dry days then more rain moving in on Thurs.
2 dry days is not enough to make my ground firm enough to run
a tractor without causing major ruts. Just part of farm life. I still
don't want to live anywhere else. (please Lord, ease up on the rain
for just a couple of weeks)

Last 2 years in Virginia have been really dry in my area. Finally getting rain, but like you said, when July/August get here we will be begging for it. I got collards and kale growing but need to get my other stuff going. Positive for me with all the rain, is all the brush piles I have burnt down. Just need to be thankfull for what we have.

I just wish the Japanese Beetles would disappear!!!!!!!!

That's optimum weather for growing.
Just enough to keep things watered, plenty of sun to keep them growing.
