Using a GT2550 50" deck on the GT2542 tractor

Good morning all

Just wanted to get opinions...

I have a 2005 vintage GT2550 that is getting up there in hours >750...not blowing smoke, still works well...but I starting to replace parts that are finally wearing out.

I just picked up at a very good price a 2010 vintage GT2542 (plastic hood). Looks like I can hang the 50" deck on this GT2542...any reasons not to? I know its 2 ponies less in power but I dont believe that should be an issue. All else fails I will run it with the 42" deck and add 45 minutes to my mowing time...

Your thoughts?

I would suggest it may work the GT2544 and the GT2550 only difference was the deck width , 44" versus 50"
Measure pulleys etc before you start

I have a 2009 2544. As far as I can tell, the only difference was the deck and the sticker they put on the tractor.

Try it. You have nothing to lose compared to the price of new lawn tractors.
