Was 38F and overcast @ 14:30, was only calling for a high of 37F so we've beaten that.

Big stretch of nice weather starting tomorrow, no rain with highs in the 40's and 50's

Was fairly nice yesterday: sunny with a high of 50.4F ...

Got old Missy cat laid to rest yesterday up in the field by the shop near where I buried Dozer, the Beagle/Bassett mix when he passed on.

After that I moved a couple bales of cellulose insulation out pf the van over to the barn and got bird feeders refilled: the hopper, 2 tube feeders, and 2 suet feeders. Also scattered cracked corn, split peas, and peanuts for the ground feeders.

Then I headed up to Menards to pick up 3 orders.

Woman and I had went up there Wednesday evening after we picked Missy up from the vets. When The Woman dropped her off on Monday the vet thought there might be a chance she could save her but she took a turn for the worse on Wednesday so we put her down.

We had gone up to Menards to have a look at a dishwasher they only had one of, supposedly a display model and was on "Clearance". We wanted to check out what kind of shape it was in, whether it had all the manuals and included stuff that was supposed to be with it.

Turned out it was on the mezzanine in back, in the original (unopened) box. So we went ahead and paid for it and had them set it aside until I could up there with the van to pick it up.

Think we got a pretty good deal on it - was a discontinued model but about 1/2 the price of a Bosch 300 series @ the 50% off the regular price:

Fairly basic model, 5-cycle (?), no 3rd rack, or built-in softener, or garbage disposal. Does have the stainless steel tub and 4 spray bars on the bottom. Supposed to do a good job cleaning and is fairly quiet (according to reviews), should be adequate for our needs.

I also picked a corded Dremel oscillating tool with a carry bag and bunch of blades/bits, another bottle of Titebond III, an assortment of Bosch jig saw bits with a carrying case, and a large assortment of Bosch 1/4 impact bits with a carrying case - all of which were on sale at very good discounts.

Once I got back home, I used the forks on the Kubota to unload dishwasher off the van and got it brought inside with the 2-wheeler and got it unboxed. Still need to move the old one out of the kitchen and get it loaded in the van.

Spent most of the reading over the installation instructions - which oddly were not included ... 🤬 (had to download off KitchenAid's website)

Need to do some prep work to the subfloor as it's lower than the height of laminate, mainly scraping of old linoleum so I can lay in a piece of 1/4" cement board to raise the floor level in the recess. Maybe Red Guard it once I get it down ... just in case.

Only thing I didn't get done yesterday that was on the agenda was moving the tub support for the old washer and backing plate for the softener up to the shop so I could work on them with the needle scaler.

Amazon did deliver the new brine injector and throat the other day. Got those installed.

Did manage to run out the other day and pick up meds, should be good for another 3 months ... (y)

Picked up mail on the way back in from, couple of bills + plus property tax bills.

Got the regular bills scheduled for online payment and wrote out the checks for the property taxes and stuck them in envelope and put a stamp on it.

The taxes for the parcel the house is on went up by $114.86 per year.

That ended up being fairly good news - because property valuations going up significantly has been all over the news for the last 6 months. Some kind of mandated re-evaluation that occurs every so many years.

The even better news was the taxes for the parcel that the barn is on actually went down by $108.66.

So pretty much a wash ... (y)

Payment doesn't have to be postmarked until the 29th so I'll hold off on sticking them in the mail for a while.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Prep work on floor for dishwasher install.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)

So far a bust for the precipitation factor..... maybe 10 drops. The wind has been gusty all day too! I will catch the forecast on the news in a bit.... the "timing" of the front has been oscillating back and forth.

Admin stuff was really frustrating.... to the point I was ready to say "F-it".... but that would have made it worse. Mustered through it. I got tired of being on hold for a couple calls. Both phone calls were left for a 'call back' in the queue. Neither of which happened. I know what will be on Monday's agenda.....

On top of all that, a form that was sent to me was creating an issue. I was trying to fill it out and just return..... the first attempt had it 3/4 complete, then when moving the cursor to the next line..... well one click and everything was gone! Any additional attempts resulted in the same thing happening, but occurred on the second line. I gave up, printed the darn thing and filled it out manually. That saved a little of my sanity.

Then a controller came in for a couple 200mm fans I want to put in use for air circulation. Took the brand new fan out of the package and plugged it in.... then proceeded to accidentally touch the fan blade to the controller box.... snap! Broke off a blade which made the fan so wobbly it wanted to jump out of my hand! It's currently being glued. Hope it holds.

At that point, I gave up.... not touching another thing! Just one of those days.......

Happy birthday KilroyJC! Hope you got a big piece of cake to go with holding that sofa down... :)

I keep 2" thick foam pads almost everywhere, to put down for when I kneel. My knees are still stock, but I've been hard on them from bicycling, motorcycling, hackey sack, softball. I need a pad in front of my fireplace when I'm starting a fire, but I don't want it to catch fire...

Prayers.

Glad you got her back up! You need a warm cab up there.

Hope that fixes it!

Glad the guy was honest. The world needs more honest people.

Prayers all goes well.
Herons will eat large fish out of your pond. I need a way to scare them off.

I'm fine....until the shenanigans start.

Yep, maybe a grey hound or whippet to chase them off? Or a robotic scarecrow? Or something flying through the air?
Ron, that pic of the doves was awesome. We have almost the same birds down here, but about 20-30F warmer than you during the winter.
Our little rose bushes were still blooming until the freeze we had back mid January.

Off today, but attended an online meeting for over an hour.

Tractor has front tire flat, have put slime in it years ago, needs more. Actually needs new rim and tires on front. Rim's beads are probably rusty again (made mistake of filling them with water when new). And the tires are 21 years old, still have plenty of tread, but the sidewalls have scads of hairline cracks due to age. Ka ching. 11.2" - 24" firestone Traction and Road R1's.

After filling tire, moved a huge oak stump over to burn pile. Maybe 36" diameter x 5' long. It was the remainder of what my son and I cut the top part into firewood.

Took son to doctor appt. He has a sinus/respiratory infection. Need to go get his antibiotic here in a bit.

Ken, sounds like your son had some fun at the SOR. There are some cool SOR videos on youboobtube.

I gotta say, Youtube premium is really nice when I'm at work, and I want to watch a "How To" video, and there are no ads. Just don't like the buyout cost. $22./month for whole family that lives at this address. But when I log on at work into my google account, it follows me.

Supercross racing has been extremely exciting this season. I watch on Peacock channel (maybe $7/month). They are going to race in Ron's backyard (Detroit) tomorrow. Crowds have been big and there have been multiple winners in the first 4 races, so that adds to the excitement.

Rich, where 'ya been? Hope all is well.

Helogabals, thanks for coming back. I enjoy your posts, and you have many interesting aspects to your life. That is enough wire for a skyscraper!

riptides and LS125, y'all need a quiet room to wind down. Actually, I hope the issues are just 1st world issues that can be overcome. Maybe the milkroom will be the quiet room in the future?

Kilroy, that FLIR might be handy for your single male friends to borrow and take to the dance. They will be able to determine the hottest girls there. :)

Scottie, nice pics. Beam me over there for happy hour! Looks like y'all are having fun.

Wifey fixed me a wonderful sandwich, one of my favorites, leftover pot roast on a hoagie type bun with havarti cheese and a smear of mayo.

Storms on the horizon. 69F at the moment. We actually need it to rain another 150 miles west of Austin/San Antonio to replenish the aquifers. But it looks like these rains will fall mostly east of them.

Drew, have fun with the gardening. My daughter "wants" to have a big garden, but I know she'll have all kinds of excuses when the work part comes along....

Prayers for Bupps and the rest of our team.
Thank you!!!!

pizza instead of cake 🤣👍

as expected my friend with the double knee replacement did not have a fun night last night,
described pain as beyond 10, so they don't have his meds dialed up enough yet.
He has been quiet for awhile, I think they finally dosed him so he can sleep. But I get an occasional text from him.
only person I text with and only while in hospital.

he is caregiver to his 103 year old mother who lives near Fort Dix.
I may have to help with a grocery run this coming week for her
She went to Brown/Pembroke way back when and she still remembers I went there.
Thankfully she has a full time live in caretaker, the cost of which her son shoulders.
He is a very good son and takes wonderful care of her. Does her food shopping every week coming over from PA
And now he is laid up and I know he is nervous about his mother. actually I think he hurts so much right now, or even better,
is medicated adequately so he feels almost no pain. Only someone who has been through this can explain and I haven't.

headed off to local orchard to get some more apples, then down to brother's for a glass of wine.
nice way to end a cold grey drizzly day
Drew I don’t understand why his pain is so high. They give medication, and it does apparently control it. Over 10 is hard to believe.

Anyway, I hope so, because I’m planning on getting my knee done this year.

For some reason they do not like giving the good painkiller at the hospital and if the block wears off on the second day it will be painful. My Dr. prescribed the pills the day before and since I was home just 6 hours after the operation I could take the good stuff to stop the pain before it got intolerable.

On the first knee two years ago I had a late surgery and stayed the night in the hospital and the block wore off on the drive home. My wife had to bring me out some pain pills before I could get out of the car.
