We no longer have alter servers so sometime in the future serving will be just a memory.

We split between 2 parishes. One, which has a school, has 8 alter servers regularly. Even 9 at 6:30 AM Rorate Mass. The other has no school and no servers.

My friend and I were alter boys when we were 15 in the Methodist church. Our sunday school teacher warned us about the church down the street.

I distinctly remember serving my first funeral. Riding to the cemetery in the lead limo with the other altar boy, the priest, and a couple of the funeral home guys, the priest points to the car in front of us and notices it's a custom vanity plate....

Ditto here. I was trying to make it say "Tennessee 1", but that didn't quite work.
Thankfully somebody explained it.

It made no sense to us either. Fr. Horvath had to explain it to us. None of us played tennis. It might as well have said I BOCCE.

Not in 1970's Indiana. Neither was soccer.

Today, pickle ball is the rage. Most of the tennis courts have been converted to pickle ball.

Soccer is now quite popular here.

Fort Wayne has had a multitude of City Park tennis courts, all my life.
I grew up across the street from lakeside park, and it had 4-6 courts (not sure which) and the tennis courts were busy most of the time while the basketball court beside it sat empty
