The high pressure fuel pump mounted on the engine. It pushes fuel at up to 30,000psi to the injectors. When it goes out, it sends metal through the entire fuel system, injectors, and even back to the tank. Repair costs are 5 figures.
I thinks thats why Ram was the only one to offer a preemptive strategy to pump replacement. Its actually a hazard if you are in a difficult driving situation and the pump goes.
Thought that said a lot about Ram over Ford.
