Good morning!!!!

I've heard of a lot of people that had sore arms or not feeling good after the shingles vaccine shots, I guess I'm one of the more fortunate ones. No soreness or issues with either shot, got my second one yesterday also.
The first one hit me pretty hard, sore arm and felt like I had been rolling in a clothes drier the next day. Second one, I only had a slightly sore arm.

Good Morning Looking4new,
Dont they have mandatory drug tests for truck drivers in Canada ? I got tested 3 times last year, and again last week, thought it was kind of hillarious at my age !
Most drivers, yes. International drivers as per U.S. rule.
I feel that as long as I am responsible for their $100,000.oo tractor( they bought it used) and $250,000.oo set of tank trains, I do not smoke dope within 24 hours of going to work. On my 36 reset I allow myself to party for the first 12 hours. That gives me the 24 immediately before I go on duty to get my act together. For the past 10 years I haven't left the Province. You might call it 'short haul', I prefer to call it 'regional' trucking.
I don't leave Ontario.
If you get convicted of impaired or Over 0.08 then you get to have an ignition interlock on every vehicle you drive...There goes the trucking job, right out the window. I don't know of any company in this country that would pony up for one of them for the truck you drive. Impaired by drugs and/or alcohol.
15 years ago I put my foot down with the Company and they told me that I would NEVER be sent to the 'States again. I don't do drug tests. As long as I am not running around impaired then there is no reasonable reason to test me. A lot of people at work including the manager of our fleet know, but have never seen me smoke dope.
I have lots of 'wont power'. I have 5 acres of dense bush, if I want to be one with nature.

Got camper back on pad.
About all today. Did get the new battery for jump starter. Installing was pain, posts not in same position and had to fudge a little.

Some gasbuddy prices.

50 and clear @ 20:45, heading down to around 47F for the low.

Got roughly 70 potted strawberry runners trimmed off the plants they came from, weeded, watered, pruned, and placed up on the shelves where they'll get good sun for the next several days (and where the deer can't get to them ... ;) )

Probably have another 30 or so to go.

Also got the monofilament fence rebuilt.

Alarm was chiming when I went out so turned it off, remembered to turn it back on when I came in for the evening.

Water Buffalo not refilled and no holes melted, was a little breezy. Winds should be lighter tomorrow so may get to the holes then.

Woman went with neighbor to see another friend who is in the hospital with complications after colon cancer surgery.

A couple of years ago when I talked to the guy that originally drilled the well here he didn't have a whole lot to offer regarding restoring the well beyond suggesting that we could have it brushed and bailed. Not even sure that he had the equipment to brush it. And didn't seem terribly optimistic as to whether it would do much good.

Researching it a bit, I recently discovered water wells can be hydro-frac'ed ... and found this young man on YouTube who has done a lot of videos on it:

Seems to be down in Buppies neck of the woods.

Interesting stuff.

Now I just need to see if I can locate someone who provides this service locally.

Hope every one had a decent day ... (y)

Good (Thursday) evening. Overnight Low of 11C, daytime High of 18C (wind-chill made it 13C) and it's presently 17.8C. Some gusty wind in the arvo with the odd shower.

Firstly, apologies for having to 'skip' everyone's postings from yesterday up to now. As to my day's it's practically the same as the day before manning the pre-poll station. This will all be over by Saturday evening (@ 1800)... and then the counting begins. We'll know the results, pretty much, later that evening.

In the meantime, I've got a booth assistant now who is staying with me in one of my spare bedrooms. It's a great relief to have him. I continue to get along 'famously' with the 'opposition'.

That's about it, take care all.

Coffee is done brewing. 40° with fog this morning. Heading to 59° with slight chance of sun. Got some more trimming done in woods. Grass never did dry yesterday. But lowered mower blade 1/2" and got it done. Grocery shopping this morning. Then will stop at one of the many Cider Mills near me for some cider and donuts. No other plans for the day.
A mouth full.

good morning all
lovely day here, sunny, high of 72, mid 40's now.

will be a busy day. Headed out early with rv to truck shop to get set of shocks put on.
Very disappointed Fedex did not deliver my steering stabilizer yesterday as they said they would.
I wanted shop to do both at same time. Thinking maybe if it comes this morning, when I get a ride back to pick it up this afternoon,
perhaps they could take the old stabilizer off and pop this larger one on while I wait.
This reminds me to look at my "front" door, which is closed off and not used; side entrance to house only. So new delivery people throw packages up on
a step full of flowers,??? Sometimes my neighbor across the way has to call me and tell me "check your front door". She sees everything.
what a marvelous security system. (y)

pretty time of year here. Mums are all blooming, lots of Fall annuals blooming, and the last of the green peppers are trying to grow before
they get too cold.

RS, despite yanking out all my strawberries, three plants survived and are growing like mad. You are going to have quite the crop next year with
all those plants. Will you have to cover them or will fencing keep critters out? Lots of critters like strawberries....

Ron, those squirrels must have strong jaws. Those walnuts are like rocks.

Drew, ther sure must have strong jaws. I find cracked nut all over the place. This time of year. Lots of Hickory trees here also.
I wonder if they crack them right away, or let them dry out first, maybe get more brittle.
need to ask your friendly squirrel what his food storage plans are...

Wngsprd, How does one make coffee that tase better when in the air?

My son and I intentionally went to Stumptown Coffee in Portland when we were out there hiking about 8 years ago...Their coffee is very good...

But this sounds a bit like pie-in-the-sky marketing to me. Here is what they say (see what I bolded):

Our journey with Alaska began in the fall of 2022 when we shared a sip of Holler Mountain at their offices in Seattle, WA. From there, we began considering the guest experience at 30,000 feet and created a blend that's fit for the skies. Did you know your taste buds behave differently at high altitude? That’s why food and drinks can taste different in the air compared to on the ground.

After selecting the coffee, we conducted extensive brewing tests with the Alaska team—on the ground and in the air—to understand how it tasted both below and above the clouds. We also wanted to ensure our roast profile worked with all types of brewing machines on Alaska aircraft.

Here’s where we landed: the custom blend served on flight is an organic coffee roasted deep enough to bring out notes of toasted marshmallow and dark chocolate, while remaining exceptionally smooth and balanced. It uses the same clean and sweet base as Holler Mountain, but with a focus on a roast that mellows acidity and introduces just enough toastiness to please a wide range of palates.

Good morning! 67˚F, partly cloudy, south breeze heading to the mid 80s.
Buppies the estate sale is not an auction, each item is priced so it's more like a whole house garage sale.
Kilroy check in at noonish to pick a drill, if any, if I can load the pics with my phone.

48 heading to 75.

Long day at Costco yesterday to get wife's wheels balanced and rotated...definitely learned to make an appointment next time. Funny, last time I tried to make an appointment, the nice lady said they only make 2 a day, so doesn't matter. Not so any more.

We shopped the whole store twice...so a very expensive free rotation. But at least we saved money eating lunch there vs. what we would have spent at Torchy's.

Got home and got some more mowing done.

Drew, had to look up squirrel eating nuts. They chew a hole in shell to get inside nut.
