Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 5:15 AM. Sunny. High 91F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Busy day yesterday, starting with a surprise visit from a tree trimming crew that took out three trees on the property that were too close to the power lines.

Then the repairman from AT&T called, says he's working on the land line problem, and will call when he's done. Instead he dropped by, verified that dial tone was back. Nice guy.

And then the gate opener people got back in touch, had me run some tests, and confirmed that the radio receiver and battery controller were bad. And that they're both covered under warranty.

Meanwhile I was installing the weight distributing hitch on the new-to-me box trailer. Got a good start, but need to find a level straight spot somewhere to finalize the location of some of the parts. Also had to cut off the battery box and emergency brake switch from the trailer tongue because the eight point button head screws that held them on were impossible to remove any other way. What were they thinking?

Finished up with a little windshield and mirror washing, and some last minute additions to the van's contents. Headed south in a few minutes.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

So I was away from TBN for a few years along the way, just wondering when they got rid the info you used to be able to get on individual members such as property size, hobbies interest etc ??

It’s still there. I can see that you are a retired modelmaker.
Click on the posters name to get the info.

Good morning, the temperature now is a balmy 60°F and going up to 70. Some rain coming around 10 or so.
Depending on which weather channel I look at, I am looking at torrential rains for the next 4-5 days.

I will still put the firewood in today. The wood is burn able dry, so any water that gets on it will only be surface water and besides that fact I still have wood left over from last winter, about 4 cords of it. That'll get burnt first.

I am home from the summer job and will likely stay home for the rest of my lifetime. I am not saying I am retiring, just staying at home. $32,000 divided by 25 (weeks of work) = about $1280.oo/week all deductions taken out. That is what I will miss out on next year if I don't go back. It was a hard decision I had to make when I stopped working year round to just the 4 months summer, but I found a guy I REALLY liked hauling to and NO dispatcher. This guy tells us (2 of us haul to him) what he wants (quantity), where he wants it and what time he wants it there. The rest is in our hands. We already know that the product will either come from North Bay (when we are in the south) or Thunder Bay when we are in the North West. He always calls the supplier (terminal) ahead of time for a 'heads up' that we will be loading there. One terminal is open from 6 A.M. 'till midnight and is willing to stay longer if need be. The other one not so accommodating. But we make it work.
I told him (the guy I haul to) that there is a 99.9% chance that I wont be tanking to him next year. He gave me a glowing recommendation and heaps off thanks for the past 20 years of service to him. AND he told me that he could find me a job to do if I got bored.

I have to take the big truck and trailers back to the yard on Sunday A.M.

I have three tarps to replace on the shelter logic garages. I am going with 30X40' heavy duty ones. They aren't as fancy as the S-L covers, but hopefully they last longer. They are heavier duty than the original ones, and also cheaper.

Then there is the grass to cut and the mower oil to change and blades to sharpen. Which reminds me that I have to change the oil in the genny, too.

In two weeks time I will be putting on the snow tires and changing the oil in the Journey.

On a sadder note, we had a power spike and although the Belkin surge protector did its' job, the spike cost me about a grand in meat...All thawed. So now in order to make it more manageable for when we take all that to the dump I am refreezing it. It will become bear food.

The 'larder' all refrigerator that I bought 7 years ago gave up doing its' thing, so I am going to need to replace it. With only the two of us we don't need that big of a unit so I will dispatch that one to the dump and see about getting a freezer on top fridge to replace it.
The fridge that the larder replaced is still going strong it will become the beer fridge.

Have a safe day all

Other piddling around meant getting later start on the network mess than anticipated but the good news is some success.

View attachment 825252

Everything still working and able to label the unlabelled.

Some more neating up to do yet. Should get started on the reconfiguration tomorrow
Nice job cleaning up the cables. Behind my TV is a mess.
So far I really like my mesh system, want to order another sometime for the barn, since I run network out there over my extension cord. 😂. Guess what the spare conduit will get.
Snagglepuss jumped up on my lap, with muddy paws from my dirt pile. Pants not clean now, and she’s not happy to be on the porch instead of my lap.
I had to get amazon refund for the battery that USPS never delivered here Tuesday.

There have been some problems with iPhone 15 pro getting hot while charging. There have been 2 updates to IOS 17 to fix this problem. Not sure it is fixed yet. I will be keeping my 14 pro max for awhile. I am still using IOS 16.7 update.
I just went from 11 to 14. I’m on 16.6.1 which it just added recently. It hasn’t told me about 16.7.
