Owner day and I will hang in little longer more.

Sad
We need to stop paying people to stay home, not work.

Harness repair may prove easier than expected. Able to get into almost workable position. Hopefully I can clean well. Have some Liquid Electrical tape that should do the trick.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 13.9C and it's presently 19.8C, overcast & breezy with scattered light rain.

I've 'successfully' sprung-forward, time wise. I'm off to Church in a half hour and then the rest of the day is His.

That's about it, take care all.

Good Morning
It’s 57 out there with a high of 59 and more rain. Our 3 day total is 2-3/4”.

Yesterday started with taking pictures of an airplane to sell it for the widow of my friend that died. There are multiple prospective buyers, but I need an appraisal in this crazy market. Then it was back in front of the computer until I went out to lunch.
After lunch it was back to the computer until FedEx delivered my sharing station. That was a pretty easy install, as everything was prepped for its arrival.

So all I need now is the car to plug it into.

When I was at the airport taking the pictures,

I stopped in at the office, they had a contractor there repairing the runway lights, which are a new installation with LED lights. There was about a dozen lights out, the contractor said it was probably a lightning strike. Out of curiosity I took one of the failed lights home and removed the light assembly from its power supply, and connected it to the power supply on my bench. It worked, which supports the theory that the driver board was fried by lightning.

It’s an interesting system, there is a single high voltage (4kv) loop around the runway. Each light has a step down transformer with the primary windings in series, the secondary supplies ~120vac to the light assembly above ground. That is converted to low voltage DC to operate the lights.

I apologize for sharing my geekiness with those that might not be interested, but I bet I’m not the only geek here.

Today will start with breakfast with the professor, possibly wife and oldest son will join us.

Then back home to meet a couple of FAA inspectors auditing maintenance records. After that back to the computer and TSA, hoping to be interrupted that my car is ready to be picked up.

Zoe is asking for some attention now, so I’m going to indulge her..

Nice plane, should bring some good money for the family.
More geek stuff-

The 4kv loop is fed from a constant current ferroresonant transformer with a step down to 120 at each light to ensure a consistent voltage to each fixture. Then that 120 is dropped with another transformer at each light and rectified to provide the 18-24vdc for the lights. The intensity is controlled at the ferroresonant transformer variable current output.
I sure appreciate yours (and everyone else's) geekyness. It's what makes this thread extra interesting.
Good Morning Guys,
Thank you Thomas and Kyle, passed the test, the computer said I passed by question 26, so I believe I answered two incorrectly ! You were allowed to get 6 wrong to pass.

58 going to 65 and more drizzle...about same as yesterday...making my grass grow like crazy.

BEF, funny story like a 3 Stooges movie, etc.

Finally got enough rain to make the little side creek flow over the waterfall at the battlefield forest where I hiked yesterday.

Great news...son and DIL had a baby girl this morning...Isabel. Our first grandchild. Likely trip to Raleigh on our agenda.
Awesome news, and glad you got to go and hold that baby!

Good Afternoon m7040,
I was a toolmaker/modelmaker for almost 40 years, and did have a Gerstner tool chest. But as a woodworker my plan was always to build my own chest !

I built this chest about 25 years ago. The carcass is black walnut, the drawers are butternut and the diamond inlays are rosewood. The drawer pulls are brass that I turned on a lathe. The drop front iinset is birdseye maple, and I also made the spring loaded locks that hold the front up while in the locked position ! Fun project !
That is a beautiful chest. Good craftsmanship.

Sad, ain't it. The young kids making us older guys still do all the work while they sit and play video games or tik tok.

I had a wider 72 inch model of the same cutter but I found it to be too big for my machine. Bogged down in thick weeds/vines etc. I bit the bullet and sold that unit and bought this 60" that matches my bucket width. Lesson learned. I'm excited to give this a try, should be great. This seems to be a superior build and design. The center section of the cutter is a very large and heavy piece of steel which should give added momentum to the blades swinging on the end.
Pop was right, that is a bypass in case you hit something is my guess too.

Nice dinner in town to celebrate anniversary
Happy anniversary you 2! Hope y'all had a great day.

I've been busy all week. I'm so far behind at home on projects (mainly due to the heat) but work and life too. I made myself a list of projects. It is overflowing and hard to think which to prioritize (depending on funds req'd).

I've skimmed all the posts, but hard to comment on all. Beautiful pics are appreciated.

RNG, for the time being, you have 2 homesteads to keep up with. Hang in there.

Pop that is a really nice car. You might not have to ever fill it with gasoline.

Went to a birthday party for our friends' 1 year old daughter last night. Some great theological conversation after most of the guests left.

Don, sorry about your knee. Who will do the yard work? It sucks to be 1 leg down, even for a short while. Reminds me to pray for our disabled servicemen.

Prayers Bupps and wife, our country, Ukraine and for God to get into Putin's head.

While drinking coffee this am, I was trying to figure out what project I wanted to work on..... a buddy called and said he was coming over with his track loader and pond rake. That solved that figuring out.

So, I rushed out, and got the tractor fired up so that I could trim around the pond. The pond is very low due to the drought. I haven't mowed in months. Only real green is weeds, and around the pond. These weeds are normally covered in water. I wish they'd die.

While mowing around the pond, I saw some critters. Find the critter.
