There is no reason for us to source oil offshore in the first place. All increasing fuel prices is doing is causing the population to have even less money to spend on essentials like food.

I fear we are heading into the abyss of recession-depression, all while the DC politicians seem to be oblivious to it. I thought we elected those people to represent our best interests. Seems to me that was lost somewhere along the line.

That is NO REASON to jack up fuel prices other than world politics.
Take a look at the stats I posted to my last comment. Oil/fuel prices are subject to world market prices because we are exporters. It’s a screwed up thing that many US refineries can’t use our light sweet crude from the Permian Basin and we export it. The Permian Basin is the largest known oil reserves in the world. There are a few refineries in my state that use our local Permian Basin oil, but many of the big refineries on the Gulf coast can’t use the oil and we export it. Makes no sense.

When it comes to ANY government study, I take them with a large grain of salt. Today, the government spins stuff like the MSM does.
It’s not a study. This is actual production reported by industry. It’s the numbers that both government and industry uses.

Makes no sense.

Sure it does. it costs more to refine it and refineries are private enterprises and as such, they always want to produce their products at the lowest possible cost. To me, crude is crude. It stinks and it comes out of the ground or from shale deposits.

I presume to push their green initiative. I sometimes wonder what the end game really is
At some point we turned a corner between fair market and what others want the market to be. The saying used to be cheaters never prosper, lately seems to be all there is. for you and your staff to need 4 days to drive 9.5 hours using an ev supported by a petrol fleet :ROFLMAO:

All the oil companies need is an excuse like this to immediately raise prices. All the rest of us need is an excuse to blame Bidenomics.
Good Afternoon jmc,
I really dont need an excuse, it just comes naturally ! ;)
I was shopping in a fairly high-end grocery store Saturday. I couldn't find a single employee in the grocery department for help finding an item. I went to the service counter and they paged someone to meet me in the baking aisle but no one showed up. I ended up calling the store from the bakery aisle and the grocery manager had to come out of his office to help me. In the end, I found the item on a bottom shelf hidden behind other items myself. The item I was looking for was canning/pickling salt.
Good Afternoon NoTrepassing,
I hear you ! I was at Lowes the other day to buy some flexible pvc tubing ! No body around so I asked for help in the plumbing isle. Finally after waiting a few minutes a young man comes out and asks me what I need ! I told him I wanted 6 ft of 1" plastic pvc tubing. His reply, we are not allowed to cut tubing, me looking at him  ! So I said but they sell it by the foot ! He in turn again says I cant cut that ! At that point I had to go to the front of the store for the manager, and finally did get my tubing, but it sure and heck wasnt easy ! I dont know what they were paying this kid, but whatever it was, it was too much !!

Personal observance of course. I quit buying into all the credible studies a long time ago. Today there are way too many 'talking heads' and not enough substantive facts and I'll leave it at that other than to say (again my opinion only) that most of the so called credible sources really don't know their butts from a hole in the ground anyway.
