Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

55F going to upper 70e, sunny all day.

Anniversary trip went quite well, even though the knucklehead drivers were out in force yesterday!

Buc-ees is an absolutely crazy place! Picture if RaceTrac and Walmart had a kid 🤣😂🤣

something that impressed me was the restroom - it was huge, it was bright, and it was clean in spite of the number of users. I a,pm pretty sure the cleaning agent and is stationed full-time inside, because both times I went in (about 30 minutes apart) it was being worked on. Another thing was the stalls for commodes were behind real doors, not privacy panes, and each one had a red&green light above to show if occupied or not. Same with the urinals not having panels - each one separated by a real tiled stub wall Instead of panels. Bonus is that on each of the stub walls there is a hand sanitizer dispenser.

also impressive was the quality of the brisket meat, especially for the price! Now, I do not sauce my brisket, the sandwiches are pre-sauces, but it is not excessive or drippy, and it was tender enough to make Mrs happy — I know she enjoyed it because she finished her sandwich before I did!!!!

then a little shopping for Mrs, finished up at the Dolly Parton Pirate Dinner Show.

Outstanding performances by all the actor bats and performers, great visuals, I did think the sound was a little off on some of the mic levels. We went to the Hatfields&McCoy show Last year (same outfit) and the sound was spot on, so I do have something for comparison. Another difference was in the food compared to last year, since they are basically the same menu (just the names changed to suit the show) is that the quantities were somewhat reduced (one piece of chicken instead of two, a small half of potato instead of a larger bowl of mashed, biscuit only instead of biscuit and cornebread, apple pastry instead of apple pastry with ice cream). Best economy ever, Jack!

Driving home over the mountain in the dark is always fun (for me at least - I LIKE driving.. Mrs is not a fan…) except for the inevitable idiot who is in a big hurry going up the mountain and has to hang 5 feet behind you with high beams on (I pulled over at a wide spot and let him go) and took great joy when, a few moments later, he got stuck behind a slower large rurally pickup who was high enough to not be bothered and big enough not to care…

Truck pulled into the rest area at the State Line, and tough guy was afraid to go fast down the hill. I, for my part, tried to help by providing some extra illumination for him with my high beams… aint I a nice guy?

today will be dropping mom off after her visit, a quick trip to UPS box to pick up mail and packages, trip to woodlot with Bailey before picking up Harry from his little vacation at Doggie Boarding.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Good morning, 55 going to 61 with rain and wind moving in.

Heavy wind when going down to the barn. Walnuts falling down all over. Avoided being hit fortunately

Happy anniversary to the Kilroys

Buppies, lots to deal with for sure

Daughter returned on the train from NY yesterday. She is considered Essential employee if there is a Gov shut down. Get to work without pay Yay

Drew, hope the worst is over for you and sun will return. We lived through a few storms on the beach. Always scary but interesting at the same time. Lots of drift wood and strange things to be found on the beach after the storm
Thank you!

Good Morning Guys,
Kilroy, happy anniversary to you and the Mrs!! Hope it was a good day, sorry I missed that yesterday but was quite intent on closing my pool !

Scaredy, sooty to hear your problems, divorce related, that’s never fun ! Sounds like you have a good plan in place !

Buppies, prayers ! 🙏

TxDon, best of luck with the bad knee ! I broke my left tibia plateau in 97 on a dirt bike, I was lucky to get an excellent surgeon and to this day can go out and walk 5 miles with no problem ! Which I think is pretty good for closing in on 72 !

52 to start going to 60 ! Overcast with light rain and wind right now with heavier rain predicted later !
Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

Good Morning.
It’s 55 and dry, wind under 5kts. Not the tropical storm I expected when I woke up. The temp is stationary, and the POP and wind will increase throughout the day as Drew pushes the weather away from him, and towards us.

This means that wife’s open house might not be a complete bust for today. Spent some time yesterday cleaning up the garage for her to convert to a store for the weekend, added an outlet to charge the new Prius. Erica thought it was for lights for the open house, I didn’t tell her the real purpose, I let her think it was all for her….
Was a pain getting the wire to it, the wall was foamed almost solid with insulation. Certainly got my money’s worth, but would have been happy if they scrimped a little.

Afterwards sat and read a bit with Zoe by my side….

She can reach the kitchen counters while standing on all four legs, it’s a good thing she is reasonably well trained.

Today will be inside doing the final TSA tasks, I’ll be a happy camper to not have that looming any more. Maybe tinker with some RC stuff, certainly not a good day to fly them though.

Also have some paperwork to do for the in-law suite, I have to appeal the zoning permit denial for more square footage, but I knew that it would be denied when I filed it, but a variance would be easy to obtain.
They just want the permit and hearing fees and escrow. I did get approval from the board of health for the septic system, and I am going to ask for a waiver for a storm water management plan. Hopefully that won’t be painful.
I remember when actual construction was more work than the paperwork. But dealing with the township is a lot easier than the federal agencies that I work with all the time. I hate to say it, but I have become numb to bureaucracy, I have adopted a go along to get along and move forward attitude. That is totally against my personality, and caused a lot of internal struggles initially. I just realized that the problem is the people that make the stupid rules, not the ones that have to apply them. They are just doing a job and are often as frustrated by the system as I am. So we just do what we have to in order to make progress.

56 outside this AM. Steady RAIN since last night, around 9PM. Heading to lower 60's today. 97% humidity.

Rain throughout the day.

Road trip later for a wedding.

Got a do all estimate back from one plumber, good news. Kind of about 3-5 grand more than expected. It's the darn line run to the septic. Around here it's 60 to 150 a foot. Might have to eat this price and just get it down.

Hope all weather the storm. Here is hoping for better health for a lot of you. Be safe today it what you do.

"go along, get along" - like that, @Popgadget. Nice.

do any of you remember the William Bendix line
'what a revoltin' development this is!"

well....clearly rv coated in salt from storm so I go out to hose it down, which took about half of it off. And what did I find, my wheel molding looking melted in spots, the salt spray having got under the plastic outer layer and it was peeling off in many places. Looked gross. Will have to be refinished I guess, or maybe just taken down and polished/buffed and avoid the defective clear coat. Or plastic coat. Whoever was the subcontractor who built these poorly made pieces of plastic ought to be held accountable. The same ones with all the cracks around almost every screwhole. From the factory.

spent some time cleaning the ebike.
glad to see it started right up.
not good to see some rusted metal on it.
ocean spray a real torture test for rustproofing
headed back out with can of spray oil
