Very sorry taking so long to reply. You have an over-producing parathyroid gland, making excess Parathyroid Hormone (PTH). Excess PTH will drive up your calcium. Once 12 or above, it can make bones brittle by trying to suck too much calcium out of them. Spontaneous fractures can occur (hip often). You are vulnerable to getting kidney stones. That tiny little gland on its way to causing a great deal of mischief for you. Pretty easy procedure to remove it. I will refer you to ENT to discuss surgery.
Your a very nice man sir, but my goodness you are getting a litany of medical problems. The horizon of health consequences is migrating closer. Please be sure to see nephrology. I am very happy to keep managing your diabetes, but maybe getting endocrinology involved in your care a good idea? They also manage hyperparathyroidism. I'd still be your PCP, but with the potential incoming storm, maybe recruit the experts?
I'm placing ENT referral. Let me know your thoughts on endocrinology. I would like to see you again in 6 to 8 weeks from now.
Thank you,
Erik Womeldorf
This is what I'm dealing with. Not a good day
