I am still working on 2024 wood. Last fall I was having back issues so didn’t put any in. I burned my last stick in June, just about the time I stopped needing a fire.
That’s one advantage of being ahead.
I am glad that I was ahead last year, or I would have burned a lot of electricity. The first year when I couldn't do our wood I wasn't a year ahead like now. My stove is a combination wood/coal jobber. I had never burned coal but when I was in grade school we had a coal furnace and I used to "help" my dad. So I thought, no problem, we'll just do coal this year. I guess I didn't pay attention to what dad was doing or ask why he was doing it because it was a disaster. We either froze or roasted all winter. I just couldn't get the timing and weather anticipation right. Ever since then I have been a year ahead on our wood.

I have one, you'll love it. very handy and very tough. Ohio Steel has great customer service too. I needed a replacement bolt, they sent a whole bag of nuts, bolts, etc.I finally broke down and bought one of these, so I don't have to push the wheelbarrow full of firewood from the woodshed up to the house all winter. It is narrow enough to tow through the bushes and gate.

I have one too!! Just be careful throwing splits in when it's really cold.I finally broke down and bought one of these, so I don't have to push the wheelbarrow full of firewood from the woodshed up to the house all winter. It is narrow enough to tow through the bushes and gate.
