Some of the old cars had the starter switch under the clutch pedal and by stepping the clutch all the way to the floor it would start. Others had it to the left of the clutch pedal up a little. high beam was usually centrally located to the left of clutch pedal

My old (52) chevy truck had the starter switch just above and to the right of gas pedal I think.

My auto insurance, USAA has a discount program (safepilot) that tracks various driving aspects, one being cell phone use. Not exactly perfect as I got dinged 1 time using the Map program. But I’m on track for a 15% discount.
I'm not into that much intrusion into what i'm doing.
Noticed my homeowners is only going up a little over $200 for next year. Was up over $200 last year, and the year before.... Almost double what it was about 5 yrs ago.

Frits, last VW (1960) engine I changed took way longer. Probably cuz I had to rebuild it after it came out.
I helped rebuild an engine in the car, 80's something ford tempo that needed new rings. My Father in Law's neighbor let us use his garage, and my FiL and the Neighbor actually did most of the work, as they were 2.5 hrs away. I was poor and couldn't afford it at the time, but paid them some for the help.

I seem to recall some other operator benefits too.
Yes there certainly were, miss those days :)

Yep, that's were I recall most of the foot operated starter pedals to be, GM and IH.

Dave you reminded me of the last engine rebuild I did which was the old MF203 with front end loader. The 3 cylinder Perkins engine 50 hp is sandwiched into the tractor and everything was hanging in chain falls to get at the engine. Replaced the cylinder sleeves and other internals and put it back together. Still have it but it is semi retired

Since this morning was the coolest morning this month we decided to check out the newest 3 mile trail. It runs along Berry creek and only one small part had stagnated water with this drought. Starting temp at 7:45 AM 73˚ after 1.5 hour hike 83˚.
Building this trail was beyond my reasonable clause in my volunteer work, since it was built in 100˚ temps. I did thank the volunteers who toughed it out in July and August to get-er-done.

The one advantage of a bench seat, letting your girlfriend sit right next to you, even let her steer or run the gas.
And if you ArmorAll the seat, hard right turns become much more fun 🤣😂🤣
