Not much difference safety wise looking at phone verses looking at the indash screen with same info. I find new cars with screens built in to be harder to navigate the functions, like radio and ac. I prefer the old radios with knobs where you can use them without looking. With touch screens you have to look away from the road much longer to make sure you hit the right “button” on a screen. I have thought of changing the radio in my truck to a modern one to get a backup camera and apple CarPlay, but then I loose the buttons and knobs. I do like the apple carplay on my new car, especially the map on the screen, but hate the one knob to navigate menus, can’t do that while driving.

Morning all, 71 going to 83 and cloudy, some more rain last night.
Got the rest of the wire run to the box, just need to put the breaker in and hook it up.

too hot working in the ceiling really slowed me down.

Sodamo-My Chlorinator is an an aqualucent, very basic, but has worked for years with no real maintenance.
Biggest advice is all the metal needs to be stainless, the salt will corrode things in the line if not, most heaters/pumps don't have issues, but good to check.
It takes hundered of pounds of salt to start, need to add more as the pool needs to be drained due to heavy rains. Shock every few weeks.
Balance stabilizer, PH etc. at beginning of season. If rains very heavy and hot out, need to add some algecide.
Weekly maintenance is usually just cleaning,

Happy birthday PJS !

Sorry about the cat fatjay

Back to day job and Springsteen concert tonight.

Be well,

79° and sunny. No rain here, we need it. Yard could use a mowing, or might wait another day.
Spent most of yesterday preparing to teach a class tonight.
Son called on his way to Atlanta for a concert, then called at 11:30 after the concert and we talked until he got to his hotel at 12:30 am.
So I slept in. My wife went and walked with her friend, then woke me when she got back.
Thomas, sorry about CDL medical.

Appointment physical CDL with my primary doctor and my cardiologist doctor, wellll neither doctor would sign the paper work for okay

I’m sorry to hear that. I have to get a physical every 6 months and a yearly EKG for the FAA. Every time I go, I wonder if today will be the day.
Last time was Monday, I half hearted thought it might be a way out of the proving runs, but the doctor said I was good to go.

::: clambers atop the soapbox:::

With all the “Operator Assistance” garbage on modern vehicles today, anyone under age 40 is not really learning how to drive. The are more aiming and hoping in many cases.

Another major factor IMO that affects younger drivers is that they they were imprisoned in the rear seats the last 30 years, with nothing to soil at in front of them except a high headrest or an electronic device. Kids were banned from the view out the windshield, seeing the bill vista of sights —- and also observing and learning how a vehicle is operating by observing the driver.

And what “Modern Parent” would ever DARE TO BE SO BOLD as to have their five-year-old sit on their lap and steer the car through town?

::: upends soap box to climb a bit higher:::

I am almost at the point where I think it would be a good idea to remove all the warning labels and let evolution take its course —- stupid should hurt.

Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

:::climbs down from soapbox and heads to the bar:::

I did not do my homework only a few days of low 90s rest in 80s next week but dry dry dry
Hopefully the grass won’t grow so fast at the lot then. Overall a lot more rain there last month than here.
Yesterday I went thru the 3800 HD pics from the cell cam SD card I swapped out, and only kept the wildlife pics.

Which one is the starter and which one is the low beam?

Of all the modern convinces I think power steering will be missed the most.
Some of the old cars had the starter switch under the clutch pedal and by stepping the clutch all the way to the floor it would start. Others had it to the left of the clutch pedal up a little. high beam was usually centrally located to the left of clutch pedal

Good morning! Low of 61°, heading up to 87°. Slight chance (20%) of a stray t-storm. We have been on the other side of the "chances"...... still no rain at all! A few nearby rumbles, but no prize.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Belated) to PJ. Hope you enjoy your day!

Thomas, Sorry about the CDL physical issues. The docs get really picky......

Buppies, you gave me the incentive (not) to smash my middle toe into the immoveable square leg of the table. We are now somewhat 'matching'. Toe is nice and purple and tender.

The knee has been acting up again, probably due to the increase in humidity. At least now I have "balanced" pain.... knee pain on the left, toe pain on the right....
Now I really walk weird......

Apparently, my post yesterday flew the coup......
Spent most of the day doing the plans and materials take-off. This is the second 'revision' already. This time was the winner. The wifey wanted the first plan 'downsized' a little bit, same concept, just smaller. Saved about $2K in the materials.
Material prices are still up there. Not as bad as last year, but definitely not coming down fast.

Don't know exactly when it will start, but probably soon. Want to time it for decent weather (cooler), so maybe a few weeks. With my luck, that's when monsoon rains will start.... At least, I would like to get the shell done and weather tight.

Son and oldest (19) GS will be the labor, I get to supervise and layout. Should prove to be interesting.... I am usually VERY hands-on.... just can't anymore. No lifting, no ladders, definitely won't be as much fun as previous projects.

Everyone have a great day!
