With a small breeze it felt a little chilly before sunrise at 60 great degrees...going to 85.

Kyle, regarding chainsaws, our mountains suffered a really bad ice and snow storm last year and trees or limbs were all over the roads and trails. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive were closed, in some places for weeks. The Natural Bridge Appalachian Trail Club sent a letter to the US Interior Department asking for a 1-day exemption to use chain saws to clear the AT in their section. Just 1 day...Nope. They maintain well over 100 miles of trails, of which 90 miles is AT and much of which passes through 3 Wilderness areas. These are unpaid volunteers trying to help.

Yesterday, air-cleaned the tractor and changed the oil and filter, as well as the air filters. Made a dump run and diesel purchase.

I wish I had pics for this but have been having great fun watching at least 8 blue jays
chow down on my hanging suet feeders. Best part is I'm not feeding the squirrels.
I doubt half my bird seed makes it to the birds.
found the suet cheap by the case/dozen, kinda goopy to deal with. Suppose if I ever wore gloves
that might help.
one can only wonder what is mixed in/disposed of in that goopy mess. You are starting off with beef tallow and then
it gets yummier from there. Does that make a blue jay a meat eater?

Good Morning
64 with a high of 77 today under clear skies. Another great day to be outside.

Yesterday my grandson and I spent some time in the tractor clearing an overgrown area that will be a play area for him. We used the 4-n-1 bucket, a grapple and a large smooth bucket. The root rake grapple really worked well for pulling out the roots and tearing up the hard ground to make it easier to grade. The 4n1 was used primarily as a dozer blade, but did grab some brush with it. We wore him out, he took a nap after lunch and we did some more when he got up. When we were done, he spent some time practicing driving the Lazer, he’s getting the hang of it, he just loves machinery.

Today Zoe’s sister is coming to visit. We are in SE Pennsylvania, Zoe came from Wilmington, NC, her sister Sophie went to Oregon. Her owners took her on a road trip across the country. Drew, imagine doing that with a hundred pound 9 month old puppy in your motorhome. They are in a car. Should be interesting people, I’ve never met them, just online through the puppies. There were 10 pups in the litter, I’m not sure how many others (if any) they are visiting, but it should be fun.
Erica is making a shortcake which will get topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. To go along with what we grill.
I’m sure there will be lots of pictures.

Good morning! 74˚F, excessive heat warning today till 9PM heading to 102˚. 100 or above every day on the 10 day forecast. Still no relief in sight. No rain for July, August looks bleak. This is the hottest time of the year till mid August. Water restriction remain in place.

I forgot to mention that last night‘s ISS viewing was extra-spectacular: a train of StarlLink satellites (+-30) went by simultaneously and on an almost parallel course! The track intersected just past directly overhead and about 1/3 of the way back from the front of the train.

pretty cool 😁👍

Yep. Looks like water restrictions are going to kill a lot of lawns again in our neighborhood.

Cable company is rolling out their Multigigabit upload and download service after an outage in a few weeks according to the notice yesterday. Wondering if it will charge more for it?
