FedEx tracking shows my bed bases in Honolulu. Does that mean I get them today or? If I do then there will be time to dismantle the old and assemble the new. This would be priority, but can’t really get rid of the old without knowing.


Just talked with FedEx. Apparently my items are vacationing in Honolulu for the weekend.

RNG, did I understand you right that you have moved all the way down to Santa Barbara? You will be near the coast like my sister and likely have much cooler weather.

Not quite Santa Barbara, Drew, but Orcutt is in Santa Barbara County. Orcutt is much closer to the coast than I am here, and temps rarely get into even the 90s in the summer. And rarely get below freezing in the winter. Glad you're taking time to drive down CA1. If you start at Legget at the north end, you'll see incredible vistas, can eat at some wonderful seafood joints, and find some really nice trailer parks right on the beach. Heck, get on US101 up in Washington, and you'll see most of the west coast. You can even cross the Golden Gate Bridge, worth a stop all on its own. Just stay off Lombard Street, OK?

The home inspector found about four dozen issues, about half of which are safety related, like with the smoke/CO2 detectors and electrical wiring. One leaking dual pane window, too. A repair person is working up a quote for the work needed, and if the seller agrees to discount the selling price by that amount, escrow would close on the eleventh of August. If things go according to plan, I'll be all moved by 9/24. The driveway is only 30' long, but you're welcome to it. Lots of neighbors park their motor homes and trailers on the street, so you wouldn't stick out should you decide to do that instead.

What happened to the other wire?
Seems like an easy enough replacement.
Do you have anything to measure capacitance (after making sure unplugged and shorting to discharge)?

85F and mostly cloudy @ 13:00 but sun is out for the moment. HI 93F, DP 73F, HU 68%, AQI 64. We are currently under a Heat Advisory.

Some showers currently to the south of us and broken line of showers/thunderstorms running due south of Lorain. Another larger, more intense line running north-south from east of Sandusky down below and just west of Wooster. All of them tracking due east. They should arrive within the hour.

Slow getting rolling this morning, still on first cup.

Need to go park the Cub in the barn before the rain gets here.

Got another 2 rows marked out with 1' spacing last night after dinner:

Woman said there were a couple of hawks around this morning and then a little later said one was perched on the t-post out back at the corner of the flower bed ... so I got up and had a look:

Just after I took that the hawk swooped down into the tomato plants and snagged a little something which it proceeded to tear apart and eat.

Wasn't too long after that I was laying on the couch and happened to look out the window and saw this guy up in the maple tree @ the southwest corner of the house:

Woman just headed off with nephew and his wife to go over to Habitat Restore to pick up some shelving or something that they bought.

Unsure what all will be on agenda for today, weather likely to be a determining factor.
