My Japanese sweet potatoes came in and I was able to make the Lemon Bars. The sweet potatoes are white inside. The bar's crust is oatmeal and dates and the lemon custard part is potatoes and dates and lemons. Excellent, now I just need to figure out how to grow the potatoes or a local source.

Yes, but, white rice has the husk, bran, and germ removed, which extends shelf life but at a cost. White rice contains less fiber, protein, antioxidants, and certain vitamins and minerals than brown rice. We always buy brown rice and have never had any rice gone bad. Has anyone?

Good morning! a wonderful 1" rain last night and more expected tomorrow, so I hope it dries enough by this evening to mow or I'll have to set the lawn mower up another inch.

60˚ heading to the mid 70s, cloudy now but is suppose to be sunny this afternoon. NW wind.
We always used brown rice back when the kids were growing up. Today we avoid rice to keep the A1C in control

Good Morning All,

Dog woke me up, but after that ... i'm not ready for the day yet. Too early, going to have another nap before considering my day.

On the flip side, brown rice can also have high amounts of arsenic (depending on source) and contains phytic acid, which impedes the absorption of essential minerals like zinc and iron. The glycemic index of white rice can be lowered by cooking, refrigerating overnight, and reheating the next day. The cooling/reheating process converts the starch to a less-digestible form. By pairing rice with other healthy accompaniments, to losses from removing the “brown parts” is offset.

if one is really cynical, one may posit that the brown rice craze was started to simultaneously reduce processing costs while raising prices for a “healthier” product…

Coffee is done brewing. 29° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 59° with mostly sunny skies. Got flasher installed in lighthouse and programed to be like a real light house. Remembered that I had not mounted toolbox on trailer yet. Got that done. Did more pond cleanup. Need to start getting all the small stones out of pond that get stuck in vacuum hose. Even got all tool and benches cleaned up. Grocery shopping this morning. Then mow grass in afternoon.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.
You captured the eye "catch light" nicely. Thanks for sharing. This will probably be it for old pictures from me. This coming week I will start seeing more arriving avian migrants. 2 more threatened Warblers captured last year A Tennessee and Blackpoll:

Thanks for sharing this "factoid."

0.13" of rain recorded from some overnight rain showers with a mix of light drizzle and fog at ground level and partially clearing skies above with 40ºF as the morning low temperature. I see a mostly cloudy day ahead with some periods of varying degrees of filtered sunshine with the afternoon high temperature in the mid50ºF's and a slight chance for a rain shower or 2.

Hopefully tomorrow will be dry and sunny as predicted and then the rain begins🌧️🌧️🌧️

good morning all
bit of a late start, 50 going to 59 in clouds all day

my morning will be quiet but then taking 93yo MIL out for drive at 1pm, might bring her back here, not sure how good her walking will be on a lawn
vs pavement. Was thinking I could bring the golf cart over to the car and go from there. Maybe.
Then later this afternoon dinner out with old friend, at a Peruvian restaurant in Doylestown. Likely to try something new tonight.
Three days of rain starting tomorrow.

have a lower rear molar that is unhappy and gums sore, took a tab of penicillin to stave off the inevitable infection. Appt with dentist next week, hope it behaves.
Likely my fault, got food stuck and floss wouldn't take it out, tried a new paper clip and likely abused something. I need to get some of those wooden dental sticks.

Drew- I am sorry to read about your molar. I recently had a similar experience. I use those plastic PIC sticks. They work pretty well until one of my "sharp/cracked/chipped" teeth shreds the fibers.
