It doesn’t take much for my filter to get “partially dirty” here in the Smoky Mountains - we have three pollen seasons and I primarily use the truck on rough, dusty roads in the woods. if I clean my filter in March, it is turning yellowish green with pollen within a week if I use the truck enough. Since we sold our small business a bit over a year ago, I use the truck maybe 3-4 times a month as opposed to every day. I do the twice yearly filter cleaning mainly out of habit — with current usage, I probably don’t have to clean the filter for another five years…Did you notice the huge particle count at the start of the ProjectFarm tests when the K&N filter was clean? As others here have pointed out, they don't start working well until they are partially clogged up. Every time you clean and re-oil the filter, you're dosing the engine with another slug of dirt. You may not notice the damage at first, but I'd expect such an engine to start using more and more oil as the miles piled up toward 100K. $.02..
We contributed a bag of chips and a jar of salsa to the National Tortilla Day office partyGood evening all. 37ºF for the start, overcast, light breeze. Moderate wind, Overcast broke up in afternoon, high temp was 42ºF. Light fire in insert and putter in morning, then trip to Sherman for new Peugeot tire, and new cleats for shoes. We also did lunch, hit book store, no books. Did get ride in but no nap. Did not get new tire on.

Not really - the steel wool will be in the block voids above the vents, and I expect that the foam insulation will expand in and through the steel wool (I unrolled and “fluffed” them before stuffing them in) hitch will offer moisture protection. The steel wool is prima an “anti-chew” measure for rodents, and if the do chew it and ingest any, it can cause internal bleeding and eliminates the critter. I don’t expect that a little bit of rust would really make any serious difference in its intended use. I will be going back and inspecting to see if I need to add additional steel wool and foam to any voids.Kilroy - any concern about the steel wool rusting out?
