Good Morning.
Here is the Tempest’s take on the day.
IMG_1580.jpg

Yesterday was spent with exciting tasks like labeling divider tabs for manuals and putting them into binders. Got some more documents approved, several more to go.

Cooked pork ribs, prepped them like they were going in the smoker, but put them in a 250 degree oven instead. They came out better than I expected, served them with Mac and cheese, cooked carrots and Cole slaw. Attended airport authority meeting via Zoom after early dinner.
Another board member and manager stopped by afterwards for a cup of tea and get checks signed.
Took Zoe for a walk afterwards and called it a day.

Today might find me on a rooftop dealing with a 10 ton heat pump that was icing up. Still have paperwork to finish, but the list is a lot smaller.
It’s trash night, and I still have to move that pile of manure, dump trailer is here and ready, but ground isn’t frozen solid enough to not make a mess with the repeated trips.

....

Said goodbye to some more coworkers yesterday. :-(

Will try to call a few today to volunteer references/help where I can.

....

Had big team meeting today, no mention of layoffs, silence from executive team. They are horrible at communicating.

....

Not fun being around when goodbyes are in order.

You are doing the right thing by helping with the networking. I read somewhere it's always a friend of a friend that helps one move along in careers.

Best of luck to all. Keep your moral up. Executives don't seem to get the true costs of layoffs, including on those who remain.

The one I put in my shop last summer was 24000, but the standard model, not Hyper Heat. The difference is that the Hyper Heat is supposed to work down to -15F and the standard one to -5. We have only had a couple of days in the low single digits so far this year, but the heat output was not even slightly effected.
That pretty much tells the story. A bigger condenser is what the change is for Hyper Heat.

Morning all, 31 going up to 58 and clouds are winning. Seems about 20-30 degrees warmer than normal.

Found where the trees fell a few days back (big thumps). In my neighbors forest and fell away from road, so all good.

David -hope operation went well.

LS - feel better

Be well,
When working I went through these cycles every few years and we had to lay off people and sometimes very severe only to bounce back into hiring again and paying bonuses to hire enough people. The engineering/construction industry especially is know for this. Projects were often of the size requiring hundreds of engineers and thousands of construction workers and new project awards to continue was always a big challenge

IME, hydraulic lines typically are rated for 4X working pressure for normal operation and 10X working pressure for burst pressure. Pumps and pump drives will fail before the line. But, routing, installation, and sub-standard welding/brazing of fittings kills steel hydraulic lines. Usually it is the combination of all 3.

On a tractor, it’s more often mechanical damage to a steel line that is poorly placed or inadequately protected.

I’m glad there are so many experienced people on here to learn from.

50° and some sun and clouds. Rain later.
Not much accomplished yesterday. HDMI extender came, could try them out but not sure I want to run to the church building again. Been there every day this week so far. Need to get some work done at home, guess I should look at my list.
Haven’t had wheel bearing in Subaru looked at yet, whine is getting louder.
Did find what supposed to be new part number for lower water heater element. Once I got that, I found it $20 less on Amazon than the supply house.
Still need to tackle the water softener.

Good morning, all. Well, the weather has certainly improved from last week, when it was pretty close to 40 below. We are going above freezing today, and a good wack of rain is coming. Will probably have to park the truck at the top of the driveway, because it will surely be slippery. And I have to head down to Toronto tomorrow for a Super Bowl party! Annual tradition with our very good friends whose daughters grew up together ever since grade one, 20+ years ago. Of course they are not quite as excited about the Super Bowl this we are, nor did they watch the Grey Cup with us. (Canada’s equivalent of the Super Bowl – Toronto won!)

Sitting out on the deck having my morning coffee today. Haven’t done this since winter started!

Have to get my septic alarm box installed Have to get my septic alarm box installed today, and will putter in the basement. We are installing a kitchen in the bathroom and finishing the ceilings and the floors in the walls. Wife thinks it’s going to be done by spring – ha!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning to all! Low of 21°, only going up to 34° today. Tonight's temp supposed to drop to 10-12°. But the high tomorrow guessed to be in the mid 40's. Then into the mid 50's for the weekend. Yes, the roller coaster temps have arrived.

Another horrible sleep last night. Still fighting this bug. Not getting better, but not getting worse......

Dennis, nice video of the Alaska trip.... I was almost feeling seasick during one portion.... Beautiful scenery for sure!

Drew, good luck with your RV search. Better yet, have fun during the search. Remember, it's the thrill of the chase!

Check, it still looks very cold out on the deck.....

Don, all I have to say is "no comment"......

Ken, hard to say 'goodbye' to coworkers, especially if they were good. Hopefully it won't adversely affect the remaining employees. Sounds like the execs have blinders on.

LFN, enjoy the day off inside. Hope the bill for the tractor isn't too bad.

Today's agenda is to do nothing again, got to get over this bug....
