All right, what do we see here ? Is that a designated bed attachment point or did the bodybuilder just weld a piece of C channel to the frame to bolt his bed to, so the weld became a fatigue crack initiation point ?

This looks very peculiar, and having read many manufacturers body builders guidelines, i think this is a violation.

I asked the same question earlier and someone said "that's the factory bracket", but after looking further it sure doesn't seem like it is.

Thats a picture of a cab & chassis, different truck. The one in question, is a pickup truck with the factory bed removed and flatbed installed. They set the flatbed on top of the original bed mounts.

All right, i give up. Then i dont know why so many frames fail. Here in Europe, frames only fail due to corrosion damage, between cab and bed where the rain falls directly on the frame. During my 5 years in trailer and body building i dont remember any customer complain about truck frame damage. Or at least none who blamed us as body builder.
