Annuities?

Baldwin said he didn't pull the trigger, just pulled the hammer back .
Maybe if people who are gun control advocates knew a little bit about guns? Things like assume a gun is loaded, and never ever point a gun at someone, and what tha' (bleep!) is live ammo doing on a movie set anyway?
Sorry...back to annuities!
If you have the answers to those questions you can do better things than talk about annuities. (When the OP derails the thread, is it acceptable to jump on board?)

I believe tests were done on the actual firearm, and it was noted that the handgun could not fire unless the trigger was pulled.

It's not like the gun was dropped (and I'm certain that was checked out as well because I'm an idiot, and I would even check that).

Go figure...

I've said this numerous times, a thread can only go for so long without getting derailed at some point (as it's bound to happen)🙃

I would like to hope that the key is not to get "nasty" over it.

That said, tomorrow I have more information to ask more questions, so the thread actually did accomplish something on my end👍

And to think my wife thinks I'm stupid to frequent a internet forum LOL

As I said last night, it also gave me some things to think about.

Probably makes less sense today than it did a couple years ago when CDs were paying <1%. Some half decent rates on CDs now at the online banks, local banks not so much (at least at any of the ones around me).
Local bank in my area paying 4% on 15 month cd. Best locally I've seen.

From what I know about annuities, I liken them to reverse mortgages. The only winners are those selling the product.
Every time I have brought up annuities to my advisor, he says just forget it...And he is licensed to them ! LOL.

I wish you the best in your decision Joe ..

Thanks Ken.

Hows retirement been treating you? Take any tools with you on vacation anymore? LOL

Just be glad you got out when you did, because with the new SEER2 ratings that started Jan 1st 2023, everything is a cluster fiasco. I can see why they postponed eliminating R410A in 2023 and pushed it back to 2025.

I don't believe anyone could give financial advice on a forum like this any more than "what tractor should I buy". Everyone and I mean everyone's situation is different. Some people have 2-3 tractors on an acre when growing up our neighbor with 2,500 well maintained acres had NO tractor, just draft horses and two oxen.
To me an annuity is an insurance company and there are many types of annuities. We have never had life insurance nor did parents or their parents. I wouldn't drive across the street without car insurance and we have it on cars in garage never driven plus an umbrella coverage auto and home/property.
It all depends on ones goal, comfort level, risk/reward and happiness.
People have and are making money with cryptocurrancies...but not for us. Wife and I each have annuities but it's just a small part of investments. What sold me is the one time no penalty cash out, so right now I could transfer to something else...but annuity pays every month my credit card balance, utilities, etc. It was locked in at a fairly high interest rate. Is the insurance company profiting by it? Of course...but for us it's a steady monthly income deposited into the bank.
Investing is complicated which is why no one can say this or that is good or bad...everyone needs specific financial advice tailored for their situation.

well, I screwed up and bought a small farm, so I would have something to do. Little did I know, I have more to do than I want.
still kept some of my things. No brake, no drive / S lock machine, etc.
Only recovery , vacuum pump.

Yeah, I sold out at a pretty good time. New refrigerant coming up, equipment, etc,.

I still have keep up my CEU's so I can maintain my license. So, I'm somewhat still in the loop with all these changes. Who knows where this stuff is going the next 5-10 yrs ?
All I can do is dream about the good ole days !
