Ever get the feeling it’s harder on us than them?
yes for sure. It is hard to see our kid make the wrong choices and anything you do to give good advice is being ignored. We have several doing really well and also several with mental illnesses that interferes with normal thinking.

My wife is just an amazing woman having put up with me all these years and dealing with raising nine kids
She is the best and I am so grateful to have her around
The fights she put up to get the kids the help they needed is just out this world

EGO tiller attachment ordered.

Advancement in the Spanish app looks dismal this week, I'm in a mucho competitive group this week. With only 7 hours left I'm stuck in 9th place and only the top 7 will advance. I need 800 points to advance to 7th place, and each lesson is only 40-50 points. positions 8-23 stay and 24-30 get demoted. At least I'm far away from the demotion zone. There is always next week.
Be sure to watch Spanish soap operas and Latina weather girls. It will get you rolling your double rr's fast!
Yes. 1920. The barn just got a new roof. We are debating about removing the Milk House chimney....if we do...the roof will also be replaced.
after this weather event headed your way....you may reconsider the stove....actually a friend has a cabin that he can put in, and take out the small wood burning stove with 2 people and a furniture dolly.
David, keep drilling it in to him.
My oldest gets it. He’s been saving for a house down payment. Still drives the Elantra from college which he bought from me. Doesn’t want a car payment. He cut way back on Starbucks and meal deliveries after tracking the costs.
My youngest still hasn’t gotten a job even with a 4 yr degree in information systems. He’s just not trying very hard.

But you could ship it to me.
You have to make them suffer poverty, to help nudge them out of the nest.
I love Texas, but it's just too cold there. :) It hit 62F here today.

First crocus of the year popped open today, about 2 weeks early.
You are right. We are in freezing rain right now, and possibly school called off for tomorrow. Looks like the temp will stay near 32F for next 3 days. I came home a little early. I still don't know why our chickens are roosting on the roof instead of going into the heated coop??? Dumb clucks (just another term that comes from chickens)....

Plate is still full at work. One of my bosses is wanting me to dish some stuff off to others, but I'm their co-worker, not their boss. But he's retired Marine. He's awesome, gets stuff done, cuts through red tape. He will tell them how the cow eats the corn. The workday goes by fast.

Prayers for our team, Buppies, Drew, LS, those in need, our country, Ukraine.

27F with a snow shower @ 20:30, high today was 31.3F. Heading down to around 18F for the overnight low.

Did not get up today until around 18:00, very late night last night and after I fell asleep I was dead to the world apparently.

No feeders filled today of course, as it was dark by the time I got up.

Bad news on the shower valve repair front: it's still leaking ... 🤬

Tub spout is still off and about every 10 seconds enough water accumulates in the piping that a steady stream pours out for a few seconds.

It probably wasn't observable initially, as the system was at low pressure (toilet refilled when I turned the water back on)

Pressure in the system varies from just below 40 psi (cut-in point for the pump to turn on) to over 70 psi (cut-out point where it turns off)

I'll try cranking on the valves a little more but I really don't want to over tighten them as that is what destroys the rubber washers that make the seal.

If that doesn't handle it, then it will be back to trying to troubleshoot the cause. I think there are several possibilities:

1. Internal crack or pinhole somewhere inside the valve.

2. Seats installed incorrectly (cross-threaded) so that they are at angle. I don't think that this is the case, as I took quite a bit of care, rotating the seats in reverse until I found the beginning of the thread before I started screwing them in and then inspecting them with a flashlight once they were installed. Neither looked to be cross-threaded.

3. Leakage between the seat and the valve body itself. I noted that when I removed the seat for the cold water side someone had put some teflon tape on the threads.

That might be an indication that there was an issue there before.

This is very disappointing to be sure. Hate when repairs fail to solve the problem.

Fired torpedo heater out in the garage to warm it up a little and keep it from freezing.

Not totally sure on rest of agenda for this evening.

Need to do some organizing inside, may help The Woman with some things She wants done.

Definitely feed fish before the lights go out in an hour or so.

Hope every had a good Monday ... (y)

Hey! Not fair. You've got a brand new Mazda you're not even driving.

I have over 600 miles on it now.

The 4K projector is great picture on my wall. My laptop supports 4k but computers at church are older and might not. We are figuring on updating them.

Maybe the coop is too hot for them? You might try leaving the heat off for a couple of days.

My new 250' lb torque wrench came today, time to tighten up some nuts. My other one wouldn't go to 166 lbs, so that is the reason I got the new one. Both are 1/2" drive, the smaller one of the two is 40 years old. I will cross check the old one with the new one on the front wheels of the tractor.

I watched some of a storm chasers' video of the freezing rain coming in Fort Worth, TX. That is the only thing I hate about winter driving.

Agree, think we got a great deal after seeing Pedro’s invoice. Even after we ship, $3190 to ship to son’s Va address and still $3k+ less.
Yes, we told them this weekend. Doing the parent thing, although giving him the car, we will be Lien Holder on the Title and told him we will release only after they have $xxxxx in verified savings. He is still driving 2001 Honda Civic bought new with his Mother cosigning. Original plan was to surprise him with a car for 50th birthday, but that got nixed when we learned about his credit card debt last year. Been providing hands on guidance ever since. Hoping this is incentive to stay on track.
I hear you about trying to get them on track..... our middle son was up to his eyeballs in debt 2 years ago. Then he got divorced. We basically provided the housing and a financial plan. We are very proud of him now! Single dad of 2 boys doing great. He has saved enough now that he could go buy a new car cash! This is on after he has paid off all his debts and is still able to buy things he needs /wants or the very expensive electronic games for his boys!
