Good morning!!!!

32F and cloudy, which looks to be the high for the day. We've had fairly significant snowfall over the last 36 hours, probably on the order of 6" to 8".

Up very late last night, don't think I got to bed before 07:00. Woman was also up late and couldn't get to sleep after I went back down in the basement, She ended up watching a movie until 3 or 4 in the morning.

Looked out the kitchen window yesterday afternoon and here's our neighbor - and he had come down with his plow truck and was plowing out the driveway down to the house !

What a guy. Sent him a text message immediately thanking him. He replied that if I wanted him to do the circle he would. Told him I thought we were good and I appreciated his efforts and the thought.

Got another foam board panel put up yesterday in the utility room. That leaves less than 48" on that wall still needs covered.

Woman worked on cleaning tile backs after I located the razor blades, probably over half done with that.

She just went out and cleaned the car off and shoveled the snow from the entryway up to the front door, now off to the grocery and pet stores. My assigned task is to salt the walk and parking area before She gets back.

Got the router table cleaned up/out and inspected yesterday:

(image loading problem still not fixed :()

It's kind of a mixed bag - looks to have been made from two separate units: a top and a bottom. Both appear to have been made from melamine-coated chipboard (wouldn't have been my choice ... but it was free) The drawers in the bottom are ill-fitting and absolute junk (chipboard) with really crappy slides.

The drawers in the top appear to be made of oak and are nice, and they fit pretty well. Fence is pretty nice and appears to have been made of solid oak (unfinished) as well, has t-slots cut into it. I got that removed and brought up to the garage so it can be sanded and have a finish put on it.

Casters on it are rough, it doesn't roll easily, and they leave black marks on the floor tile where it's currently sitting in the basement. Likely will replace those with some decent (locking, non-marking) casters ($24) If I can salvage the old ones and get them functional may use those for the dust collection system.

Top is also made of chipboard, is in rough shape - chipped up, not smooth, missing the plate the router mounts to. Does have a couple of 12" pieces of t-track that can be scavenged for a new top.

Back panel on the top unit is broken where he had a 4" pipe installed for dust collection. I may have some plywood or MDF or could be used to replace that.

Started unscrewing that back panel but I found that the screws where it screws to the top were behind the edge trim (oak) on the top ... so they were inaccessible with anything but a right angle screwdriver. Started getting those backed out, but still have a clearance issue and can't get them all the way out. Probably have to remove the edge trim ... which I'll have to do anyways if the top is replaced.

Current plan is to replace the top with some nice, new MDF. Top is around 21" x 37", probably go with 24" x 48".

That still leaves purchasing a mounting plate and more t-track.

Need to inspect the overall condition a little further, and evaluate whether is makes sense to put much money into it or start from scratch ... or just buy a new ready-to-use table. Not really happy with the use of chipboard for carcass.

Did some additional cleaning and tool organizing in the basement yesterday as well.

Got the router bag up off the floor and put on some shelves, need to go through that and get an inventory of the bits.

Bagged up the HF palm sander in an Menards Masterforce tool bag I picked up cheap a while back when they were on sale and brought that upstairs so it can be used out in the garage.

Located a 3/4" x 47 1/4" piece of plywood from some old shelves and set that aside to be brought up. There's another piece down there I'll probably snag as well. Those will be used for the sanding table.

Starting to get a little more room to work down there.

Serviced the 6 white worm containers, slow progress there bring them back but at least there are still some alive.

Amazon didn't deliver the tub spout yesterday, but Woman reports they made it today.

Got some online banking and bill paying done.

Unsure what all will be on agenda for the rest of the day beyond helping unload the groceries when She gets back and maybe taking the trash up to the cans at the road.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday ... (y)

My 12-year-old son finally got to shoot a rifle with gunpowder bullets. This is a 22 long rifle. He has experience with pellet guns and airsoft guns but I figured it was time to teach him.
He is very very safety conscious.

Good (Tuesday) arvo. Overnight Low of 16C and it's presently 24.8C, partly cloudy with a gentle breeze. There was 7.1mm in the gauge at 0900.

The short story on Sunday's lamb spit-roast was that it was too 'fatty'. Over the past 6 years I've roasted pig, and now lamb with no problem but this time there was so much exterior fat that it didn't take long for the fat to ignite... and, of course, after I'd had help at 0600 to mount & balance the carcass, I was alone to monitor the spit-roaster. The flames shot up to the rafters which prompted the first extinguisher use.

I then 'rolled' the spit-roaster out onto the front lawn in order to clear it of the house. The second extinguisher was used as I needed to pull the locking pin out of the rotor/long-spike... every time I attempted to do this the flames would flare up. Wearing welding gauntlets, I finally manged to do that and get that end off... the flames were now a least 6 meters high and so intense that I fell back onto my back. I then picked myself up and got the whole carcass off onto the ground. The ground now has a blackened image of the carcass on it. :D I checked myself and I still have my eyebrows & beard.

The 'back-up plan' was that I remembered that the local supermarket made pork roasts, so I drove into town and at 0800 (when they opened) I went in (Lord knows what I 'smelled' like) to order 6 of their roasts. They asked me when I needed them, I said noon and they were ready by then = disaster averted as we had 45-50 people attending.

The rest of the day went seamlessly and the pork roasts were well received.

After the 'clean up' and everyone had departed, I had a wee bit of supper and an entire bottle of Pinot Noir. Then to bed.

As I've already posted, I replaced all of the fire extinguishers + a couple more that I'll mount in strategic places.

Today, and for the rest of the week, I'll be slowly putting every thing back where it 'lives'.

That's about it, take care all.

Starlink
Good morning to all! Low of 24°, only going up to 31° for the high.... currently under cloud cover, snow expected by around noon. Total of a few inches, no big dump. Supposed to get windy tonight and tomorrow.

I was almost done with welding the edge tamers together when the power went out..... waited for about a 1/2 hour, then called the co-op..... They said there was a crew headed out to fix the problem..... waited another 20 minutes, contemplating getting the generator started up.....

Just went and cleaned up / put away the tools first. As I wrapped up the last cord, hung it up, and grabbed the handle of the generator to pull it out ---- the power came back on...... I wasn't getting everything set back up. No deadline to be completed, so sometime this week they will get finished.

That's really neat that there is an automatic milage calculation on the log app. Nothing like that back in the day when I used to hike. I think I still have my waterproof log book / waterproof pencil.

RNG, they probably installed those lines early on in the assembly..... then added everything afterwards..... Didn't you know that the first rule of engineering is to never take apart what you designed?

Drew, have a good trip. Hopefully the weather holds out for you, and no delays are encountered.

Kilroy, the quiche looks delicious! Filling too! Starlink getting faster?

Ken, that's tough news for your son..... I can still remember those days.... makes me almost glad that I'm old and don't have to deal with the trials and tribulations of young love.....

Fritz, we always have to reinforce and guide our children.... doesn't matter how old they are. Sounds like she definitely has her act together!

I hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!
StarLink varies between really good and ridiculously AWESOME.

The lowest down I have seen is 7MBPS, the lowest up so far was 0.7MBPS. I have seen numbers as high as 171 down and 23 up.

and the numbers constantly change as the satellites orbit. But it is so nice to watch RoKu TV without buffering!

Wagtail, that is funny. (sorry) Would loved to have been a fly on the wall.

Raining (thunderstorms) here last night and today so staying inside. Badly needed but very muggy at
Fitted our rego plates to the scooters so now we can legally go up and down the road and on footpaths etc.
I would have done it 12 months ago if I had realized how easy it was. Rego is totally free for disability scooters.

Poured first cup of coffee. 28° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with considerable cloudiness. Got as far as I could putting names on all the things hooked to my mesh network. Still 4 items that I cannot find where they are let alone what their name is. May put a little time into that today. Going to be another conserve energy day.
Having a lunchtime meeting.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

27 going to 53. Should be a nice day.

Alien, those are cool looking scooters. Are those really wheelie bars?

I got local hike completed yesterday...today back to firewood...I have a load needing splitting, and if time and energy, an old dead oak that needs to come down.

25 outside right now. Heading to lower 50's before more rain is expected later tomorrow. Sigh.

But today as wngsprd noted, a nice day on tap.

And....I need to go get some more firewood from the back, so that is the plan today.

Sadly, no work on Milk House these last few days. Other priorities.

Hope all are on the mends, have a great day. Be safe.
