32F and cloudy, which looks to be the high for the day. We've had fairly significant snowfall over the last 36 hours, probably on the order of 6" to 8".
Up very late last night, don't think I got to bed before 07:00. Woman was also up late and couldn't get to sleep after I went back down in the basement, She ended up watching a movie until 3 or 4 in the morning.
Looked out the kitchen window yesterday afternoon and here's our neighbor - and he had come down with his plow truck and was plowing out the driveway down to the house !
What a guy. Sent him a text message immediately thanking him. He replied that if I wanted him to do the circle he would. Told him I thought we were good and I appreciated his efforts and the thought.
Got another foam board panel put up yesterday in the utility room. That leaves less than 48" on that wall still needs covered.
Woman worked on cleaning tile backs after I located the razor blades, probably over half done with that.
She just went out and cleaned the car off and shoveled the snow from the entryway up to the front door, now off to the grocery and pet stores. My assigned task is to salt the walk and parking area before She gets back.
Got the router table cleaned up/out and inspected yesterday:
It's kind of a mixed bag - looks to have been made from two separate units: a top and a bottom. Both appear to have been made from melamine-coated chipboard (wouldn't have been my choice ... but it was free) The drawers in the bottom are ill-fitting and absolute junk (chipboard) with really crappy slides.
The drawers in the top appear to be made of oak and are nice, and they fit pretty well. Fence is pretty nice and appears to have been made of solid oak (unfinished) as well, has t-slots cut into it. I got that removed and brought up to the garage so it can be sanded and have a finish put on it.
Casters on it are rough, it doesn't roll easily, and they leave black marks on the floor tile where it's currently sitting in the basement. Likely will replace those with some decent (locking, non-marking) casters ($24) If I can salvage the old ones and get them functional may use those for the dust collection system.
Top is also made of chipboard, is in rough shape - chipped up, not smooth, missing the plate the router mounts to. Does have a couple of 12" pieces of t-track that can be scavenged for a new top.
Back panel on the top unit is broken where he had a 4" pipe installed for dust collection. I may have some plywood or MDF or could be used to replace that.
Started unscrewing that back panel but I found that the screws where it screws to the top were behind the edge trim (oak) on the top ... so they were inaccessible with anything but a right angle screwdriver. Started getting those backed out, but still have a clearance issue and can't get them all the way out. Probably have to remove the edge trim ... which I'll have to do anyways if the top is replaced.
Current plan is to replace the top with some nice, new MDF. Top is around 21" x 37", probably go with 24" x 48".
That still leaves purchasing a mounting plate and more t-track.
Need to inspect the overall condition a little further, and evaluate whether is makes sense to put much money into it or start from scratch ... or just buy a new ready-to-use table. Not really happy with the use of chipboard for carcass.
Did some additional cleaning and tool organizing in the basement yesterday as well.
Got the router bag up off the floor and put on some shelves, need to go through that and get an inventory of the bits.
Bagged up the HF palm sander in an Menards Masterforce tool bag I picked up cheap a while back when they were on sale and brought that upstairs so it can be used out in the garage.
Located a 3/4" x 47 1/4" piece of plywood from some old shelves and set that aside to be brought up. There's another piece down there I'll probably snag as well. Those will be used for the sanding table.
Starting to get a little more room to work down there.
Serviced the 6 white worm containers, slow progress there bring them back but at least there are still some alive.
Amazon didn't deliver the tub spout yesterday, but Woman reports they made it today.
Got some online banking and bill paying done.
Unsure what all will be on agenda for the rest of the day beyond helping unload the groceries when She gets back and maybe taking the trash up to the cans at the road.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday ...
