Good Morning!!!! 39F @ 5:45AM. Partly cloudy skies this morning will give way to cloudy skies and rain during the afternoon. High 51F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.
After tonight's rain, the rest of the 10-day is all sunshine.
Started the day down the hill taking apart the flying porch roof. I put it together with deck screws, and the little Makita impact driver and a Philips bit slowly but surely had it all apart in pieces. A lot of the lumber is split and broken, but some is still usable, but rather than find a new purpose for it here, I'll instead find a new home for it. Ended up with a big tomato can full of screws, some still straight, but most bent and rusty. They found a new home in the garbage can, just like the gasketed screws that held the sheet metal in place. How unlike the old me that would have found a place on a shelf or in a drawer for them while they waited for just the right project.
Things are greening up pretty good here, too, Scotty, and mostly with weeds. The RM43 and Preen have worked pretty well, but there are lots of spots that need touched up, so that's on the to do list for after this next storm.
Rode the tractor for a bit, using the box blade to fill in some ruts in the driveway and mix a little more dirt into the gravel. Then got more seat time on the little roller compacting it so maybe the ruts won't be so bad next time.
In between I pressure cooked a top round roast in the InstaPot, then shredded it and started it slow cooking with a jar of
Mexican mole mix and some garlic. It was supposed to have cocoa in it, but cocoa was so far down in the list of ingredients the flavor was almost nonexistent. It still had a little spicy kick to it, so I'll see how it tastes this morning and go from there.
Got an email that the insurance check was waiting for bank information, so logged onto their website and took care of that.
Gonna use this afternoon's rain as an excuse to get in a grocery run, but this morning I need to move the bits of gutter and roof metal that came apart yesterday to somewhere they won't blow around when the wind kicks up. Maybe gather up the wood and move it up off the hill, too.
Happy Hump Day, folks!
