40F and cloudy @ 20:00, heading down to around 38F for the overnight low with occasional rain showers.

Took 2 bags of garbage up to the road after Woman got a message from the trash haulers that tomorrow's pickup would not be delayed due to MLK Day. (Usually if a Monday is a holiday, they run one day behind)

Also took up 5 buckets of cat litter and compostables to the pile, plus some more stuff (tools, parts, etc) up to the shop including some burnables.

Compost pile has probably dropped a foot and half over the last couple of months. Next year's harvest should be good ... (y)

Was 41F in the shop when I walked in, 72F when I came down for dinner. Threw a couple more oak splits in before I left.

Got a good bit of cardboard burnt ... and a path cleared to the bandsaw !

Unfortunately I looked a little closer at that flat stock - it's 3/8" thick not 1/4" ... which is way overkill. But I may end up using it since I have it. Not likely that it will get bent up.

Dug out the roller stand that I got for free from a neighbor and moved it over to the bandsaw, looks like it might be too tall. No matter - it seems like a nice solid unit which could be used for woodworking or other steel projects. Does need some clean up and refurbishment though.

Went over to the pole barn as well and verified that the large hose for the Shop Vac is indeed 2 1/4" not 2 1/2".

Also measured the thickness of the table top that will be used for the woodworking bench/table - it's 1 3/4" which should be sturdy enough I would think. It also has some framing on the underside that legs attach to, which looked to be 3" tall by 1 1/4" thick. Not sure if I'll end up using that or not.

Got one side of one chain sharpened, after I reset the machine to the proper angle. Will like go back up here in bit and do the one side on the 3 other chains and then reset it and do the other side on all of them.

Grabbed the drill guide and cardboard box of equipment manuals and paperwork to organize down here at the house.

Woman made cheese eggs and bacon for dinner, Nestle Tollhouse cookies just came out of the oven.

Would like to hear more about your dust collector, something I sorely need.

As mentioned (and linked by Jim) it uses a Dust Deputy 2.5, which is the updated version of the Dust Deputy and is designed for vacuums that use a 2 1/2" hose. They do make larger units as well that are a good bit more pricey.

Basically uses a shop vac + the Dust Deputy and the container it is mounted on which is plumbed in between the source (of dust) and the vacuum, to extract the majority of the dust and debris, lessening the need to change filters and maintaining vacuum performance.

Seems to have good reviews mostly, including from a number of folks that tried home-brew solutions with less than stellar results.

I'm going to design it as a point of use system, probably on wheels ... so it can easily be moved around to various machines if need be.

Don, here's where I got the beet root juice idea? Do you eat citrus? your video talked like ascorbic acid keeps the nitrates out of your system, unless you fool it with plants.

And I was listening to a heart doctor on the radio this AM, and he was saying that inflammation is the culprit of heart disease, which he blamed for most people it is caused by too much genetically modified modern grains. He preferred a moderation of a diet, with carb reduction as a factor. IIRC his last name was Dukeman or something like that. He said that for most people, if you get the right eggs, they don't raise your bad cholesterol but actually help your good cholesterol. Farm raised with high omega feed.
Always look for the studies that the conclusions are based on and review them to see size, and funding. Then look at yourself. Are you bias. I have known cigarette smokers who will never admit the studies are valid that show cigarettes detrimental to health.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 35° with fog this morning. Heading to 43° with clouds all day. Never made it to neighbors woods. He still has some kind of crud. So I took a tour around other neighbors places. One has torn a old house down and is building a new 2 story house in the same place. Says he will have new house ready to move-in in 3 months. Other neighbor is having his fiberglass inground pool repaired. It has cracks and tile being replaced. Pool is covered with tent to keep things warm. Those 2 visit used up over 3 hours of the afternoon. I did go-fer stuff at both places. Another cold damp day today. Going to try to conserve energy.
Squirrel viewing out kitchen window. Not a very clear picture. Was taking a picture of Yellow Ears climbing down pole. When black squirrel jumped on him. Both tumbled to the ground and ran back into woods.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

Up early again.
34° at o’dark a clock.
Not sure what I’ll get into today. Satisfied with yesterday’s work.
I might move a light switch in the unfinished storage room upstairs, it’s on hinge side of the door due to a change in plans years ago. I also need to finish insulating some ductwork there, and then put up a wall around the ducts. Would like to drywall or panel that room and get some shelves up. At one time I was going to make it an upstairs laundry, but I’m abandoning that plan.
I still need some outlets installed in mud room and the garage. Mud room also needs some drywall. I don’t mind hanging drywall, hate sanding. I need one of those cyclone vacs also.
I also need to prep for teaching Bible class Wednesday.

Another energy conservation day.

Have a safe day all

good morning all
about 30 out now, going up to 45 on a cloudy day
72 degrees RS? Man, send it this way...

cleaning lady morning, then relatives coming for visit this afternoon.
Woke up this morning with neck feeling fine, forced myself to sleep with head wedged between two pillows so it would stay that
way, and it worked.
Buckeye, might take you a while to learn how to sleep in. For some of us, that just doesn't happen.

Ron, wonderful squirrel pic

I've been reading about bitcoin and find it thoroughly confusing. Never knew what bitcoin "mining" was.
This all seems like a get rich scheme made to avoid paying taxes. China is heavily involved. As a retired finance guy,
geez seems like a lot of risk. And the premise of it all seems flawed, some competition to guess riddles?

maybe someone can explain this. Meanwhile my investments will stay in mutual funds.
