With new cars, inventory at the dealers is growing at the same time buyers are being driven out of the market by rising interest rates.

A Toyota dealer out here is tacking on a whopping $5k fee to the MSRP price for an economy trim Camry hybrid. That's probably $7k over dealer invoice. Let's sit tight and see how they feel about that same car after it's sat on the lot five or six months.

I'm starting to see used prices come down a bit out here, but that means trade-in values are also dropping.

The new car dealers are also now advertising "$$$ off MSRP" instead of adding thousands ABOVE MSRP.

I'm holding out for the new truck supply to get back to being fully stocked. I have 2 dealers looking for a Toyota Tundra 4x4. I want the SR version, long 8' bed with a double cab. Apparently there were only 2 in the entire country--- one in Maryland, the other in New Jersey. They say too far away to do a dealer transfer.
One dealer told me the regional rep is on the case, possibly getting one run through production. It will still take 4-6 months once it's on the build list. Apparently, Toyota is still having issues with getting the chips in order to speed up production.
They are only producing the top of the line models with all the options to get the most $$$$. The dealers here are only getting 5-6 trucks every two weeks. Of course those are the high end ones at $70K+.

The truck I'm looking for is under $45K with everything I want on it. My guess is that I'll be waiting for a bit......

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! To Rswyan!

I too, would like to see the 'alignment wings'. I have a good idea about what you're going to do, but you can work out the bugs for us!

I made several counter offers by email, nice reply, thanked me for coming in, said his managers said they could not do any of them.
They've had the truck for over a month, guess they paid too much for it.

had a late lunch of Costco lasagna. Very good, but too salty to eat often.

Todays short drive yielded two barns. One that needs lots of help and one that is converted to a school for children.

Drew why not a small motorhome and tow your car?

I've done that, too difficult getting it on and off with a ramp, cannot flat tow, have tried all varieties...except fifth wheel.
I might consider that.

I just might bite the bullet and order a new truck with supercruise now that it is approved for towing. Unfortunately can only get in loaded
High Country or Denali trims. I'd rather have cloth seats...but they will only sell you their one of a kind (almost) system wrapped in the most expensive wrapper
they can.

It can be done for sure. We towed a full size Chevy Van behind our motorhome by installing a coupling on the drive shaft to disconnect it during towing

Drew, did you attend Washington's crossing of the river on Christmas Day?

sure it can be done Frits, buy most Jeeps and they flat tow. But not Euro awd's
I'm not mechanical enough to unbolt driveshafts and it sounds like an even dirtier affair than
putting on those fabric straps around the front wheel, when they are always slimed with road dirt.

We went to the crossing a few years back, watched them almost flounder. Brave in those boats in that current.
Haven't been back, but that park is nice.
That was our polling place last November.

I remember reading that Oprah had a purse that cost $54,000. I thought she values her dollars different than I do. It seems like there are still a lot of people out there who value their dollars differently than I do. Car prices seem crazy to me. Another old guy who remembers when gas was 25 cents a gallon.
