This was the type of tractors that I worked on when started as mechanic. It was single cylinder, two stroke diesel and was started by hand. Engine could run in both directions depending on how you crank it.

Aren’t there models that were started with a firecracker?

Merry Christmas!! And Happy New Year.
Good evening all. 20ºF for the start, mostly clear sky, light breeze. Light wind, sky mostly clear, and high temp was 49ºF. Chapel to start day, Pancakes for breakfast, clean ashes and rekindle the fire. Then into energy conservation mode till noon. Helped wife make greenbean casserole for dinner at stepdaughter's house. Dinner was steaks, backed potatoes, the casserole, and salad, apple pie for desert. After presents and dinner everyone ready for nap, so we came home and napped. I have oak, Apple, locust, but it is not exactly organized. . . 🤣😂🤣 basically I just grasp what is stacked by WHEN - not by WHAT.

My biggest problem is MrsKilroyJC telling me not to put so much wood in —- and then the fire dies down and she complains when the HVAC kicks on. . .

Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday.

Did you see this video? Creepy but kind of amazing.

I don't really know anything about coal stoves except my neighbor has one. I think there is something different about coal stoves compared to wood stoves and I think there may be some stoves that swing both ways so to speak.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

Happy Boxing Day to all our friends under the Crown!

Family Festivities went well yesterday, ham came out perfect, gravy was salty 🫤 but it wasn’t really needed anyway.

Allegedly it will hit almost 40F later today, so our dog will get her walk at the woodlot this afternoon - she gets doggie depression if she doesn’t go up and down the mountain for more than two days. . .

Otherwise it is the final overhaul of the last dishes that need to be washed by hand, and digestion recovery 😂🤣😂

I hope everyone has a wonderful, healthy, happy, blessed day!!!

some stoves that swing both ways

i believe the politically correct term, considering all appropriate DEIJB factors, would be to
say you have a multi fuel stove. ;);)

Now perhaps the stove door swings both ways.

Good Morning
It’s 13 with a high of 25 forecast under clear skies. A carbon copy of yesterday.

I am very impressed with the Mitsubishi mini split in the shop with temperature of the wall that it was mounted on at 65 degrees it was blowing out 102 degree air, this was with an outside temp of 12.

We had a great Christmas yesterday, daughter and her dogs spent Saturday night here, and helped get everything going in the morning. Cooking sausage and bacon outside went well and freed up room in the kitchen for the rest of the meal.
Dinner at son’s was great, a reverse sear prime rib with lots of appropriate sides.

Today I’ve got to move some hay from the hay shed to the barn while the ground is frozen. Then we are going to visit daughter in her new house, of course she has some tasks for me, she asked that I bring some plumbing tools and supplies.
Zoe is adjusting to her new home quite well, she has the expected energy of an 8 week old puppy, but has no problem relaxing as she is while I type this.

At midnight it was 19F and was 25F at 7 am and more snow than last week's blizzard.

Here on the KY TN border about 40 miles east MS River daily temps are 40/20F.

Thankfully we only have to get out to feed the animals today. Driving is optional until noon on Tuesday.

Clear and sunny again today. Need to clean up the drainage ditches on the road side today. Did a little weed abatement yesterday withthe land plane. The landplane excells at scraping the surface uprooting the millions of small mustard seedlings trying to fill the fire break.
Tomorrow starts a week of rain. We need it :) Cheers

Good morning,
It is presently 32F under clear skies after an overnight low of 22, forecast high of 34, winds light and variable.

I love it when a plan comes together....
Yesterday I cut down the 80' pine tree that was leaning towards where my shop was going. We had just over 1/2" of rain and then temp plummeted to 10F and froze the building pad solid. I had to fell the tree at a 70 deg angle from where it was leaning to miss the shop pad and clear some other trees. Tree came down within 6' of where I wanted it. Only a little of the tree top landed on the edge of the pad. Since the pad was frozen, it didn't mess it up and isn't going to need redoing before the contractor gets here in 2.5 weeks. Now to clean up all the debris and get the trunk of the tree cut up and moved.

I have been playing bachelor for a few days, wife due home today so it is time to clean up the house before she gets here, or I'll end up on her naughty list.

The entire creek is frozen over, first time I have seen that since I bought the place. Guess this officially marks the end of boating season.

Have a good day, stay warm and be careful out there.

22 outside this AM. Have a nice ice skating rink in the front pasture. I missed all that rain in this area since I was not here.

Brought wife home yesterday. Am in care giver mode for a while.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and with hope, to all of us, a better New Year.
