5F with clouds and wind @ 16:00, although the winds have died down quite a bit. Now out of the NNW @ 5 with gusts of 12 mph.

Temp out in the garage had only gone down to 30F.

Cracked corn set out and hopper feeder refilled, also tube feeders brought in to be refilled.

Didn't take them long to take advantage of the opportunity to feed:

Seeing lots of red-winged blackbirds in that bunch.

After refilling the feeders I headed downstairs to hunt up a torch to thaw the car door so I could get in and start it to warm it up.

Also grabbed a bucket of whole corn to set out for the deer, which I do here in a bit after the birds start leaving to roost for the night.

Got car door unfrozen and opened up, car started right up if a bit slowly and is now (hopefully) warming up.

Will now get those tube feeders filled up and set back out before getting cleaned up to go have dinner.

Made a lot of food for Christmas. Brought in more firewood and placed it the copper kettle we use for it. Got it a long time ago from an antique dealer and it holds enough for 24 hours of heavy burning.
Walked up to get the mail bundled up. Cody with his double coat was ok. He is getting used to the cold. Zion is getting jackets to keep warm. The overflow from the pond is freezing up but still running.

rs, if you have some fluid film, spray/wipe it on the door rubbers. They wont freeze up again. If the doors were froze up do to freezing rain the only advice I can give you is to get a remote starter for the car.
Pizza for supper tonight. Tomorrows ham is thawing in the fridge.
Had the tractor plugged in for about 4-5 hours this morning. She fired up after one heat cycle. I fire it up in the shelter logic shed and roll it slowly outside so the stack is not blowing hot exhaust on the tarp and cycle the loader bucket for about 5 minutes to get some warmth into the hydraulic oil. I put her to work at about 1,600 rpm until I see the temperature gauge start to move, then it is 2,000 rpm until I load up the bucket to where she starts to snort then up the rpms to about 2,200 rpm for the rest of the plow session.
I fuelled her up yesterday right to the brim and she is still on the full mark after plowing for 3 hours. May have to plow again tomorrow.

Got the new UPS charging. Will keep this manual, as I have 3 other of the same model or similar cyber power UPS’s. The cyber power labeled batteries on Amazon cost $10 less than I got the new UPS on sale at Costco . But there are other brand compatible batteries for half the price.
The UPS at my TV says battery is fully capacity, but if I run the battery test, it shuts off almost instantly, a sign the batteries are not good. 3 cyber power needs new batteries (2 ea) , and 1 APC needs a battery. Most are being used as heavy surge suppressors.

13°, pellet stove humming along.

YIKES!!
Carry a cell. What if you slipped and fell?
I don't go out in ice since I slipped and fell on the backyard patio a month after knee replacement last year. That night Whipper, who heard me yell when I fell, alerted my wife. Luckily no ice in this arctic cold front, oh, I always carry my cell.
